Day 3 Toolbrunup

The one that got away..... Toolbrunup....
We had a hearty breakfast before we set off for Toolbrunup. Started our hike at 10am, fresh and eager. Ruby scaled this mountain on her own at her first attempt about 4 years ago. I had to give up halfway from nausea and a sore belly. This time I was determined to finish the hike. A mere 3.8km track distance but a relentless steep vertical ascent for 1.9 km and a steep descent of 1.9km. The whole hike took us a whole 7hours to complete. I managed to get 90% of the hike up completed before the nausea and vomiting and tummy troubles set in. ¾ of the way up was scrambling on all fours. With Ruby's encouragement and patience, I made it to the summit. Loved the 360° view from the summit and the accomplishment of reaching it.
Then there was the descent. On bums we shimmeyed down most of the way and with poles to keep me upright, I made it back to the car.もっと詳しく
