Transversed the Pennines, an area desolate and bleak
Towards long Hadrian’s Wall with forts to take a peek
At Roman engineering and their lives lived before
Thankful to now live in peace and not facing war.

Followed by modern engineering of the Falkirk Wheel lock
Plus the enormous Kelpies sculpture, where so many flock
To gaze in humbled awe at this infamous sight
It’s changing colours totally mesmerising by night.

So headed north east via one of the River Forth‘s bridges.
Through Aberdeen’s granite centre with buildings steely grey
Onto a friends place, the lovely golfing village of Cruden Bay.

Wandered the iconic quays and harbour of Peterhead
Savouring fresh salmon from a local smoking shed.
Quaint fishing villages and chipperies in which to dine
An obligatory lighthouse warning of this craggy coastline.
