The Isle of Skye ferry was full so we had to change our plan
Instead drove over the Skye bridge supported on Eilean Ban.
Greeted with deep potholed roads, only one lane wide
Also home to many sheep curled up asleep on the side.

First stop was at the legendary old Sligachan Bridge
Collie & Mackensie’s statue overlooking Cuillin Ridge.
Glenbrittle’s Fairy Pools were a trickle, not at their best
Then onto Neist Point lighthouse that protects the west.

Our AirBnB was tucked away along a twisty lane
Arrived just as the chilly wind picked up yet again.
Admired the view across Loch Dunvegan’s salmon pens
Whilst planning our next day’s trip starting with Fairy Glen.

Whose ponds & hills form an atmosphere quite mystique
A contrast to the remote imposing Qairings, they felt bleak.
Due to the bitter winds plus an intense rain squall
Headed to coastal Kilt Rock with its sheer waterfall.

The next rock formation to see was ‘The Old Man of Stohr'
Where the challenging trek for me was too much of a chore.
Clouds parted in Portree proving it to be a winner
Completed our day at The Dunvegan Pub for dinner.
