• Holocaust Memory, Memorial,Israel Independence Day

    April 19, Timor Sea ⋅ 🌧 82 °F

Today was selected (since these holidays all occur this week), and I brought together a group of guests that took the opportunity to share a “set of readings” to memorialize, commemorate, honor and celebrate these three Israeli holidays together : Yom HaShoah - Holocaust Remembrance Day (actual date: April 13-14), Yom HaZikaron - Memorial Day for fallen Israeli Soldiers (actual date: April 20-21) and Yom HaAtzmaut - Israel Independence Day (actual date: April 21-22).

We all had a very meaningful time, sharing stories and readings on the Holocaust as well as stories of Israeli soldiers that died as heroes ... in order to help ensure those lost are not forgotten. Then we rejoiced and celebrated Israeli Independence Day as these holidays are juxtapositioned to always remember that even during sad times we are strengthened by remembering the happy times and when we are celebrating the happy times to let us not forget there are also sad times. Everyone’s feedback was that they were all very appreciative and found this Service very meaningful.
