Col d'Hysope in the Réserve Naturelle Géologiques de Haute-Provence. Geologists say the tectonic shift that caused older rocks to cover newer rocks is interesting. I only care about how pretty it is.

I see a lot of these black outcroppings along the side of the road. At first I thought it was some sort of industrial dump or slag. It's actually an ancient sandstone and conglomerate.
