Tolkien walked to the back of this valley at the age of 19. Coming around the corner to this view, it is not hard to imagine how these waterfalls at the end of the valley inspired the Elven kingdom.Read more

TravelerThe open air museum at Ballenberg sounds interesting, if you like that sort of thing. I went to one in Wales and one in Korea and found them fascinating.
TravelerLois, I had looked that up as a possibility. Once we settled into this peaceful valley, though, we find that even the 2,500 people living in Laiterbrunnen feel like Seattle. So we are sticking to the mountains and waterfalls this time. Every time we head towards a city, my heart starts to hurt.
