    American ingenuity at work...

    Well, after two plus hours of straight uphill, we decided to make use of the excellent transportation system by only walking downhill today. We bussed to Lauterbrunnen, a teeming metropolis of 2,500 people and the nearest city, and then walked to a city whose name we can’t pronounce along the River Aare, which flows down the valley through a canyon to Interlaken and Lake Brienz. Once arriving at our destination 90 minutes later, a train pulled up within five minutes to take us uphill back to Lauterbrunnen. We found a local restaurant for lunch and noticed that tomorrow at 10 a.m. in Stechelberg, which is a short walk from here, the yodeling club is having a performance. What’s not to love about that? Tonight we will take a cable car to Mürren which rests on a cliff above us, and have gelato and watch the sun go down...or maybe lightening, since thunderstorms are predicted!Read more
