Hanmer to St James Station Lake Tennyson

After a lovely breakfast at the Hotel we checked out and went off to see lake Tennyson which was in St James station. This took us through another big station which was now under Doc management. so there were no stock at all. Sad to see lovely large stations being closed up like that. This boardered Molesworth station yet. Just shows how large MWS is.

Once again it is all inspiring to see how large the remote land of NZ is. We have now travelled thorugh all of NZ except for the Chatham Islands. I thought I had a good grasp of the land mass of NZ. Well this was a lesson on land and man and how the early settlers would have worked to make a living. The beauty of the unbuilt, land that we call the clean green image of NZ is just so breath taking.

Got to Lake Tennyson, and met the young couple who we had passed the previous day at the mud hole, it was another very nice spot to camp at. They had camped there over night. We took out our wet tent and layed it out for it to dry. while that was drying we went for a short walk, and then had a picnic lunch that we had bought at the local 4 square super market. By the time we returned to Hanmer it was late evening and we decided to stay another night there.Read more
