• Goodbye India

    February 24 in India ⋅ ☀️ 26 °C

We landed back in Heathrow at around 3pm after a smooth and pleasant flight.

Before visiting, I hadn’t realised that India is the world's most populated country, with an estimated population exceeding 1.47 billion. That’s around 17.8% of the global population (surpassing China in 2023). The fact that education and healthcare are virtually free for this many people is just incredible. At times we felt overwhelmed by the crowds, being asked to pose in countless family photos, and being asked what country we are from more times than curries we have consumed! Nonetheless the Indian people we met have been kind, interested and keen to share their culture and learn. Spirituality is a big part of many peoples lives and it’s clear how this supports well-being, connection and grounds them in such (seemingly) chaotic environments.

India has been a really special place. Rishikesh especially, with the beautiful Ganges river and spiritual energy. We learned so much, not just about yoga, but about ourselves. I never thought we would miss Ashu’s Ashtanga drills, but we do; as well as Swami Ji’s philosophy classes and Gagan’s anatomy and physiology.

So thank you India, for showing us different perspectives on life - both the spectacular colourful chaos outside; and the calm, presence and peace within.
    Namaste 🙏🏻
