Read more
Emily Embo The next morning we woke up at 5.30am because we were going on safari. Bisnu took us to the starting point of the tour on his scooter, it was a nice and refreshing ride, the sun was rising, and we felt the wind on our skin. A little later, another helper joined us, she was also with us at the Eco-Farm. Bisnu wished us good luck and drove off again. Our two guides gave us an introduction and emphasized that if a rhino comes, we should all run away in zigzags. So we set off on foot into the jungle, we saw deers and heard many different birds. Slowly it got warmer and by now we were walking in the blazing sun at 36 °C next to the jungle in a steppe. Our guides looked everywhere for traces of other animals. In the distance we saw a rhino, far enough away not to grab us but not close enough for great photos. We continued walking, and our guides found the track of a tiger, well it's fresh poop, so it must still be around. We also found fresh paw prints, so we followed those. All of a sudden, our guide shouted "RUN, RUN!!!" and they both took off running. We ran after them in this heat and sun. We didn't stop running, and now it's noticeable that I only had one tea for breakfast, my strength was failing me, but we kept running into the tall grass. We stopped at a puddle, there were drops of water in the sand that had not yet dried, so the tiger must have drunk something here. The guides keep a lookout and say he must have gone back towards the jungle. Only now did I realize that we were not running away from something, but chasing a tiger. I wonder who would voluntarily run after a wild tiger, I don't want to be eaten. We took a different route now, because the tiger got away from us (luckily). We walked along a river until we found a shady spot and had a drink there. Lucas bathed his feet in the river, but he was not alone. Two crocodiles were also enjoying the water, they were far away but so cool! Pt. 2 in the comments
Emily Embo Then we headed home and saw some monkeys in the trees. We were very exhausted and happy when we were all back at Bisnu in one piece. We spent the rest of the day relaxing in the pool, because Saturdays are days off in Nepal, banks and public offices are closed on that day. They are open on Sundays, though. This rest was just what we needed after walking in the jungle for about 5 hours !
