🇩🇪 Update
Read more
Emily Embo 🇬🇧 Update The Kepler Track is now almost a month ago, what has happened since then? A friend and former colleague from the vineyard invited me to come and see the glowworms in Te Anau. She works there and made it possible for me to observe the luminescent larvae of the mosquito "Arachnocampa luminosa." From Te Anau, you take a boat for about half an hour, and then you learn everything about the glowworms, or larvae. It was an enchanting experience and great to see old friends again. Three weeks ago, I went hiking with two of my colleagues. We had to take a small boat and then hiked for six hours. It was a 24-kilometer trek, partly very steep, through the forest, and we could enjoy the view over Lake Manapouri. On the night from the first to the second of December, there was another Aurora, and it was the strongest I have seen so far. It's always nice to see strangers helping each other take photos of the Aurora, and the person with the best camera voluntarily takes photos of everyone and then shares them. I usually prepare tea and a hot water bottle when there is a chance we might see the Southern Lights. Two weeks ago, I went to Queenstown. I dropped one colleague off at the airport and went shopping with another. Of course, we also explored Queenstown, but it's nice to go to a larger city because you can find what you need here. On Thursday, I finally took a seaplane, and it was indescribable. The nature was beautiful, and the experience of flying with the seaplane was unique. What also made the flight special was that I always knew where I was. I saw the Kepler Track where I hiked, Doubtful Sound where I took my boat tour, and Lake Manapouri where I jet-boated. Now I have seen a filming location from Lord of the Rings from the water, the land, and the air 😂 at the same time, I realize that my time in Te Anau is coming to an end. It's time to move on, and I'm looking forward to what comes next.
Emily Embo From Sunday to Monday, I saw the Southern Lights again, but not as strong this time. Therefore, I took advantage of the dark night sky to photograph the Milky Way. Among other things, I captured the Magellanic Clouds (irregular dwarf galaxies) and the ISS. In January, I will drive towards the International Dark Sky Reserve (near Tekapo) and take even more photos of our night sky. Fingers crossed for clear skies. For Christmas and New Year's, nothing is planned except a shared meal organized by my colleague, and I'm looking forward to it!
Traveler Wow, immer wieder so schön und beeindruckend was du alles erlebst😍🙏❤️
