Emily Embo 🇬🇧West Coast Part 1 I realized I needed a break from hiking to rest my knee, so I continued up the West Coast and stopped in the town of Fox Glacier. Here, I had a view of the Fox Glacier and took a short walk. Finally, I saw Mount Cook, New Zealand's highest peak, for the first time. After sunset, I ventured into a small forest to see glowworms – they may look like tiny LEDs, but I still managed to capture a photo. Next stop, Franz Josef, where another glacier awaited. Unable to resist, I hiked again, enjoying a cool glacier view and crossing many swing bridges along the way. My knee only bothered me a bit at the end, so all was good. From Franz Josef, I headed to Ross, a small town mining gold since the 1860s. I slept right by the beach and realized: I love the sea, as well as the mountains, but the sea will always be something special. The next day, I borrowed a gold pan and went gold prospecting. I actually found a small flake of gold (and many yellow pebbles). I was so thrilled! I didn't think I'd find anything, and while the tiny flake may not be worth much, it's priceless to me. Now in Greymouth, a small town where I'm taking a break, writing blog entries because I wouldn't find time otherwise. Looking forward to sharing my next adventures!
