Emily Embo 🇬🇧 Kayaking in Abel Tasman National Park I wake up early in the morning, anticipating a day of exploring the sea at Abel Tasman National Park with a kayak. After a briefing, I set out, having the entire day to immerse myself in nature. Armed with a map and a suggested route, I'm told that there's a rough spot in the sea, and I should just see if it's navigable or not. It's nice that everyone here is so laid-back :) I head towards Split Apple Rock (for reference, there's a map in the photos), where the sea is rough, although it's not the exact spot mentioned. With a bit of panic, I paddle along the bay to Apple Tree Bay and take a little break. Then, I head to the seal colony north of Adele Island, where I encounter seals and their pups. Keeping a respectful distance, I observe the animals basking in the sun and the playful pups. Now, it's time for the rough part of the sea. The waves are larger but not wild, so I give it a try. In the end, it's not bad at all, and soon, I arrive at a secluded beach on Fishermans Island. I spend over an hour here, relishing the solitude. Afterward, I head back to the starting point, Marahau. Quite exhausting, but what a wonderful experience to explore the breathtaking coastal landscapes, golden sand beaches, clear bays, and lush rainforests.
