Rather a slow paced day, after a late sleepin and breakfast, we got a boat ride through the Tam Coc caves.
We went through 3 caves with some of them being so low we had to bend down in our row boat!
The scenery around us was so beautiful, huge limestone mountains with greenery draping over it, really a beautiful morning!
For the rest of the day we chilled back at our hostel by the pool, enjoying some sun-baking with a side of rain passing over us every few hours.
Early showers and out for dinner again when we decided to cycle to some night markets a few towns away. We had no idea the route was all main roads so we found ourselves stuck cycling on a highway with trucks and busses overtaking us… we realised it wasn’t the smartest decision. It was too late to turn back so we carried on, and to our surprise upon arriving at the night markets, we were told it was the Vietnamese mid autumn festival! The streets were closed off and packed with thousands of people, families were displaying floats they had made, we watched a children’s performance, fireworks and the whole town had come together. Was a great experience to celebrate with the Vietnamese! And even better that it was totally unexpected!
We mapped out a way back to our hostel avoiding the main roads and finished the night with cold showers!
