• Hanoi sneak peak

    September 25 in Vietnam ⋅ ⛅ 33 °C

Checked out of Ninh Binh and went and bought a bus ticket to take us up to Hanoi!! We are staying in Hanoi as a stopover before beginning our 4 day Ha Giang Loop!
We got the 2hr bus ride north and checked into our next hostel, immediately headed into Old Quarter and hit up the Made In Vietnam stores! Soo many shops! Every street has shops to look through! We both picked up some goodies in preparation for Ha Giang!
In the afternoon, we sat at one of the many craft beer corners that consist of folding chairs and tables set up on the street! We met some Americans here and shared stories about our Vietnam experiences so far! We seemed to be doing the same trip in opposite directions so got some good insight on what the expect ahead of us!
While we were sitting, enjoying some cold beer.. the iconic Vietnam experience happened! Police car was spotted down the street heading our direction. Within seconds everyone stands up with their beers, the tables and chairs are packed up and taken off the street as if nothing was ever there. Once the police had passed by, everything was set back up taking over the street again for traffic to go around us. Such a unique encounter!!
A quick stop for dinner to try local bun Cha on our way to the official beer street. A whole street or two with restaurants/ bars taking over the entire street to set up tables and chairs! We sat for a drink with hope to experience the police drive by again but unfortunately no police were in sight tonight.
We headed back to our hostel with our shopping goods and overly keen for cold showers to escape the heat!
