    Impressionen Gap of Dunloe

    May 21, 2024 in Ireland ⋅ ☁️ 16 °C

Es ist an Schönheit kaum zu übertreffen!! Das Gap of Dunloe. Erlaubt (😂🫣🤭) waren hier 80 km/h 😳.... Abgrund inklusive...

    Ring of Kerry

    April 19, 2024 in Ireland ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

The Gap of Dunloe plus the Caha pass

    October 1, 2023 in Ireland ⋅ ☁️ 13 °C

Up early from our carpark stop and out to explore the Dunloe Gap on foot before 'the masses' descended on us. What a stunning walk along the valley bottom and through a corridor of huge towering masses of rock on both sides. We arrived at the head (the turnaround point) just as the first Jaunting carts arrived. The pony's looked gorgeous but Clare and I both felt that had we been on the cart, we'd have definitely got out and walked on the hills rather than have a poor pony pull us up. I hope they're very well cared for. Near the head of the valley we heard a shepherd directing the movements of his dog high up the mountainside while he stood on the other side of the valley. That was a real treat and we just watched in wonder as the two of them worked to bring the sheep down over the perilous ground whilst one could barely see the other they were so far apart. Then it was back down the valley to the van now passing the masses making their own way along the same route. Back at the van we set off for our next camp on the Beara peninsula in County Cork. This drive was on stunning sunshine and, courtesy of Mx Google, found ourselves on another pass (Caha) and still in beautiful sunshine. It's soooo rocky in this area, quite different ground from what we've seen todate.Read more

    Kate Kearney's Cottage

    September 30, 2023 in Ireland ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

A wet wet day today so it's time to move on and be ready for the good weather coming tomorrow. Lots of water on the roads but nothing to trouble us and some stunning views that we glimpsed through the fog/mist/cloud going over 'Moll's Gap' We'll show you our pics and also what the views are supposed to be like 😂. We're parked in a carpark again and enjoying a meal and a couple of pints in the pub (Kate Kearney's Cottage) opposite. Even managed to live stream our nephew setting off on his Spitfire flight! We're poised for another walk tomorrow to Dunloe Gap Head. A beautiful walk along the valley with mountains visible either side (hopefully) and dodging the Jaunting Cars on the way (see photo)Read more

    September 28, 2023 in Ireland ⋅ 🌧 13 °C

Caught the car ferry across to Killarney.
Drove the Ring of Kerry clockwise by starting in Kemare.
The day deteriorated and by 2.30 we just drove straight back to Killarney as the mist had set in and alongside the rain we couldn't see anythingRead more

  • Day 13

Kinsale - Ring of Kerry - Killarney

    August 8, 2023 in Ireland ⋅ ☁️ 19 °C

Up and at breakfast early this morning to board the bus by 8.30am to head for Killarney. We head to Killarney first as that is where we join the Ring Of Kerry. Buses are only allowed to go one way around the Ring of Kerry and that is anti-clockwise. The reason for this is the road is not wide enough for two buses to pass. Some places you have to stop to try let the other vehicle go by without going off the edge of the road. There was some hairy parts of the road as it winded it’s way all the way through. There was lots of mist up high.

We stopped at Riney’s Bar in Sneem for lunch. The manager had sent a selection of lunches through to the Tour Director of what she had ready for us. It was the quickest service we’ve had for a while.

Then we went for a quick look through the gift shop and a quick ice cream and back on the bus to finish the Ring of Kerry and back to Killarney.

We saw the statue of Charlie Chaplin in Waterville. He used to spend his summers in this town so they erected a statue of him.

Out for tea tonight with all the crew off the bus then tomorrow we have a bit of a rest day. Some of the others are booked on a small excursion in the morning but we’ve decided that we will do a few optional excursions over the next few weeks.

I’ve included some photos of today and I’ve included a video of our entertainment tonight. They were fantastic. You’ll love this Justine x

  • Day 7

    Falconry Kerry

    July 13, 2023 in Ireland ⋅ ☁️ 57 °F

Omg! Such an AMAZING experience! Patrick showed us Jessi, a hawk, Cookie, an owl of some sort, and Rusty another owl (a 5 month old barn owl), oh and a baby owl which was called Damien because he sounds like a Demon.
It was so neat to have these majestic animals land on our hands. I actually was very nervous at first and squealed and pulled my arm back. But Jessi is so well trained, she handled it like a pro!
The little baby has a face only a mom can love.
Would do it again in a heartbeat!

    Gap of Dunloe

    June 27, 2023 in Ireland ⋅ ☁️ 17 °C

    Prof. Dolores Umbridge

    May 22, 2023 in Ireland

    😉
