      The city of ❤️ Love

      July 27 in France ⋅ ☁️ 64 °F

Have I said this before? I love this city and this country! I’m so sad our time is coming to an end. However I’m so glad to have had this opportunity with my family. Although we are physically exhausted 😩 our hearts are full. And so are our bellies !!!! lol 😂 the baguettes and croissants 🥐 although cliche did not disappoint. Today we shopped until we dropped and walked about 10
Miles and I have to brag about how great all these kids did but Seth definitely gets the Champion title! We didn’t have a stroller for
him or an Ergo and he almost walked the whole day without being picked up… I love the way he sees the world and is excited about everything! Until next time…

      Paris!!!!

      July 25 in France ⋅ ☁️ 82 °F

The city of love! ❤️ We got to tour the Eiffel Tower, walked around the area in this cute little neighborhood with a thriving outdoor market, had specialty coffee, and simply enjoyed. However 16000+ steps in, 42 stairs flights and 10 miles later we were so tired and ready for rest. Tomorrow will bring more magic and I can’t wait!Read more

      Paris again!

      June 21, 2016 in France ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

Today after shopping for breakfast foods, we went to the metro(Bastille) to go to either The James Bond 007 exhibition or the Musee d'Orsay..We arrived at Tuilleries metro and saw a huge line of prospective visitors and while it was 10:30, decided to cue and go in to the Museum D' Orsay. After about 45 mins we got in , security checked , ticketed and checked one bag. Well this museum is great! We were there for about 4 hours, including a short break to eat in the cafe. 5 levels. We saw Monet's girl with parasol, Van Gogh's night sky , some wonderful Manet works, Gaugan, Rooudain sculptures .And more! Classic impressionist masters Degas,Cezanne & Van Gogh, the Pointillists ( Seurat, Signac); and Bohemian artists likeToulouse Lautrec.
Some great views from the windows of the museum. The museum was once a train station. It i
We then caught the metro back to Bastille and changed lines to 5.We travelled on line 5 to Patin so that e could see the James Bond 007 exhibition at the Grand Hall of the Villiers building of La Villette.
James Bond 007 was fantastic. I enjoyed every bit of it and bought the commemorative 50 years of 007 book, which has so many of the photos I took.
Exited and went to the La Petite Halle de la Villette bar / restaurant for " happy hour" 5€ Belgian beers and dinner, charcuterie and salmon pizza. All yummy! Caught metro back, while waiting there was an argument occurring behind the other platforms then arriving back yo drumming and loud music and fast food. We may not sleep till late!

      Night train to Dax

      October 11 in France ⋅ ☁️ 9 °C

First time in a night sleeper train. Laying here laughing to myself....my thoughts on the train from the airport today on people watching was that the French definitely have a way about them...a suspicious harshness- or perhaps it's living in a capital city, and me seeing it through the eyes of someone from sleepy little Hornsea. All the same, wandering the corridors of the overnight train, I can so picture the possibilities of 'Murder on the 21.45 from Platform one'....
The thing that has struck me most this past week is the conflicting realisation that many of the wars and conflicts in this world have religion at the core, and yet here am I about to embark on what for so many is a religious pilgrimage, and yet you could find no more peaceful an experience. The beauty of the Camino is that we are all just 'fellow pilgrims' Age, race, religion, sexual orientation, gender, none of it matters. You are just as likely to find a Muslim, a Catholic, and a Budhist walking together sharing the differences of their faith without judgement or fear of persecution, as you are to see as I did on my last Camino 11 people from 11 random and far flung countries sharing a meal, a laugh, and genuinely enjoying each other's company even without a universal shared language.
Human kindness understanding and accceptance at its best

So back to tonight....I'm sharing the sleeping cabin with a lovely French family-mum,dad, a 3-year-old daughter, and an 18-month-old son. Omg, and I forfeited a bottom bunk bed! (On the Camino, drawing the bottom bunk is better than a winning lottery ticket!) Well it was that or lay half awake waiting for the 3yr old above me to come crashing out of the middle bunk! To be honest, though, the guard came around with a safety net webbing that clips on to her bunk, so she should have been safe.

This first train journey is 9 hours arriving in Dax at 0644, and then there are two more trains before I arrive at Saint Jean Pied De Port (SJPDP) at 0915.

The plan is to have a look around SJPDP, find breakfast and a much needed coffee, some food supplies for Sunday as shops will be shut, then head off walking at lunchtime ish.

It's a short walk tomorrow of only 7.5km. Deliberately planned in case I don't get much rest tonight. ...
      Speaking of which...night night xxx

      Damn. ..the father is snoring!

Distance walked today 6.85 miles (11km) 14184 steps
