Great Central Road - Geschafft!

On the first 40km till we reached the border it was a rough road but so we slowed down a lot and saw a nice sunrise and some camels next to the road. In the Northern Territory the road conditions were much better, but with a lot of sand on the road. We were pretty happy that we could switch our 4WD on now. Around 70km before Uluru the road was sealed again and we finally completed the Great Central Road! Some parts were very tough, others very good - at the end a very good experience and our car made it without any trouble. We just noticed that we lost some bolts of our tent due to all these vibrations.

Die ersten 40km bis zur Grenze des Northern Territorys waren nochmal eine sehr schlechte Straße. Aber dadurch konnten wir langsam dem Sonnenaufgang entgegen fahren und am Straßenrand noch ein paar Kamele entdecken. Im Northern Territory war die Straße bedeutend sandiger, sodass wir wirklich froh waren den Allrad-Antrieb einzuschalten. 70km vor dem Uluru haben wir dann das asphaltierte Strassennetz wieder erreicht. Wir haben es geschafft und das ganz ohne Panne! Lediglich einige Schrauben von unserem Zelt haben wir durch die Vibrationen verloren. Landschaftlich war es auf der Great Central Road überragend. Fazit: Es hat sich gelohnt, Aber einmal reicht dann auch.
