    Mokpo

    Today we have explored the city and the area around Mokpo. The city itself is not really nice but it has some really nice places at the waterfront and in the hills.

    Travelläum - Our Highlights

    It happened again - Three months ago we started our trip, so it is time for a short review of the last month. It is the first month we were visiting one country only: South Korea!

    We have been to Seoul, Pyeongchang, the DMZ and many more places on our road trip through Korea. Here you can find our personal highlights of the last month.

    A short view into the future: We will continue our road trip till 19th March in Korea. At the end we will return to Seoul from where we will fly to Fukuoka (Japan) on 21st March.

    Da ist es schon wieder: Unser drittes Travelläum! Vor drei Monaten sind wir aufgebrochen, es ist also Zeit noch einmal auf den letzten Monat zurück zu blicken. Es ist tatsächlich der erste Monat in dem wir nur in einem Land waren, nämlich in Südkorea.

    Wir waren in Seoul, Pyeongchang, in der DMZ und an vielen anderen Orten während unserer Rundreise durch Korea. Hier findet ihr jetzt nochmal unsere persönlichen Highlights des letzten Monats.

    Noch ein kleiner Blick in die Zukunft für alle die wissen wollen wie es weitergeht: Unsere Rundreise durch Korea endet am 19. März in Seoul. Von dort geht es dann am 21. März weiter nach Fukuoka (Japan), wo wir dann das nächste Abenteuer beginnen.

    Travelläum's BBQ

    Due to a lot of rain we spent our day with planning our trip through Japan. Tonight we had a great "All-you-can-eat" Korean BBQ.

    Gureumdari Bridge - Wolchulsan NP

    Another day, another hike! This time we have done a hike to the Gureumdari Suspension Bridge located in the Wolchulsan National Park. It was a short (1.6km one way) but very steep way up to the bridge.

    Ein neuer Tag, eine neue Wanderung. Dieses Mal sind wir zu einer Hängebrücke im Wolchulsan Nationalpark gewandert. Der Weg an sich war mit 1,6km pro Richtung gar nicht so lang aber dafür umso steiler.    Read more

    Nagan Folk Village

    We stopped at a folk village to see some traditional houses. In all these houses there are still living families. The houses are looking old only from outside, inside they have water, Wi-Fi and television. The village was surrounded by an old city wall. We had some time to play a game against a local - Of course we won ;)

    Wir haben heute an einem Dorf mit traditionellen Häusern angehalten. In all den Häusern Leben noch immer koreanische Familien, allerdings haben sie in den Häusern die neuste Technik inkl. Wasser und Internet. Das Dorf wird von einer alten Stadtmauer umrundet. Während unserem Besuch hatten wir dann noch kurz die Gelegenheit mit einem Einheimischen ein Spiel zu spielen.     Yeosu - Odongo Island

    After a rainy day yesterday we have explored Odongo Island and the city of Yeosu today. Odongo Island is a small island accessible by foot or bike only. The city was the host of the Expo 2012.

    Nach einem Regentag gestern haben wir uns heute Odongo Island angesehen. Es ist eine kleine Insel vor Yeosu die man nicht mit dem Auto befahren kann. Die Stadt an sich war Gastgeber der Expo 2012.Read more

    Suncheon Film Set

    On our way to Tongyeong we stopped at a (not really) famous film set. It is a small fake city where they have produced Korean TV dramas like "East of Eden" or "Giant". You don't know it? We don't know it either. :D
    Nevertheless it was fun to see all the Korean people wearing the dresses of the actors from the movies and taking sefies everywhere... :)

    Auf unserem Weg nach Tongyeong haben wir an einem (nicht ganz so) berühmten Filmset angehalten. Es ist eine keine, alte koreanische Stadt in der Filme und Serien wie "East of Eden" oder "Giant" gedreht wurden. Ihr kennt die Serien nicht? Wir auch nicht! :D
    Trotzdem war es witzig zu sehen wie sich alle Einheimischen die Outfits der Schauspieler anziehen und an jeder Ecke Selfies machen... :)    Read more

    Tongyeong

    The next overnight stay we have in Tongyeong. After our arrival we have done a short walk through the city and found some great wall paintings.

    Hallyeohaesang National Park

    March 11, 2018 in South Korea ⋅ ☀️ 13 °C

    We had a nice drive around the island of the Hallyeohaesang National Park today. The views to the coast and all the small islands around was really great. The only problem was that nearly all parking lots were full on the way so it was hard to stop anywhere. Next time we better do it weekdays and not on a Sunday.

    Funny thing: I found a Nimbus 2018. After flying around I received an invitation to join the Gryffindor Quidditch Team ;)

    Wir haben heute die Hauptinsel des Hallyeohaesang Nationalparks umrundet. Die Aussicht aufs Meer und die anderen Inseln war wirklich cool. Das einzige Problem war, dass fast alle Parkplätze unterwegs voll waren und wir daher nicht überall anhalten konnten. Nächstes Mal machen wir es dann wohl besser unter der Woche.

    Auf einem Hügel hab ich dann noch einen Nimbus 2018 gefunden. Habe ihn natürlich direkt ausprobiert. Kurz danach wurde ich für das Quidditch Team von Gryffindor nominiert ;)    Read more

    Mt. Mireuksan

    In the afternoon we decided to go up the Mt. Mireuksan, but because it was late already we took the gondola. Up there we had another great view to the city and all the islands around.

    Am Nachmittag haben wir uns dann noch dazu entschieden die Gondel auf den Mt. Mireuksan zu nehmen. Von dort hatten wir dann nochmal einen großartigen Blick über die Umgebung.Read more

    On our way to Busan - Mundong Falls

    Today we left Tongyeong and on our way to Busan we visited Geoje Island. We found a very nice water fall on a campground. Would be really nice to stay there overnight in summer.

    Heute haben wir Tongyeong wieder verlassen und uns auf den Weg nach Busan gemacht. Auf dem Weg haben wir uns noch Geoje Island angesehen und dort einen coolen Wasserfall gefunden. Im Wald direkt am Wasserfall ist auch ein Campingplatz. Im Sommer könnte man hier mal übernachten...Read more

    On our way to Busan - Windy Hill

    Some more impressions from Geoje Island. It was very dusty today, but it still looked great.
    At around 7:30 tonight we have arrived in Busan. The traffic was crazy in the city. I will never complain about the traffic in Cologne again.

    Ein paar weitere Eindrücke von Geoje Island. Es war heute wieder einmal sehr diesig, weshalb die Sicht nicht ganz perfekt war.
    Gegen 19:30 Uhr haben wir dann Busan erreicht. Der Verkehr in der Stadt ist wirklich verrückt. Ich werde mich nie wieder über den Verkehr in Köln beschweren!    Read more

    Busan - Gamcheon Cultural Village

    Our first day in Busan started with a walk through the Gamcheon Cultural Village. It is located in the hills close to downtown. There are a lot of small, colorful houses with lots of cafe's. The weather was beautiful so we enjoyed the sun with an iced coffee.

    Unser erster Tag in Busan startete mit einem Spaziergang durch das Gamecheon Cultural Village. Es ist ein Stadtteil von Busan in den Hügeln nicht weit entfernt von der Innenstadt. Es gibt hier viele kleine, bunte Häuser mit einigen Cafés. Das Wetter war heute so gut, dass wir die Sonne bei einem Eiskaffee und einem Eistee genossen haben.    Read more

    Busan - Jagalchi Fish Market

    For lunch we visited the Jagalchi Fish Market to try some fresh fish. You can find everything from the ocean on this market. The most kind of fish we have never seen before. We only paid 20,000KRW (15.00EUR) for our meal. It was really great.

    Zum Mittag haben wir dann einen Abstecher zum Jagalchi Fischmarkt gemacht. Hier findet man wirklich alles aus dem Meer. Die meisten Fischarten haben wir vorher noch nie gesehen. Für unser Menü haben wir dann auch nur 20.000KRW (ca.15,00EUR) bezahlt und es war wirklich lecker.    Read more

    Busan - Lotte Mall Observatory

    In the evening we visited the Lotte Mall. It has a great rooftop observatory so we were able to avoid the entrance fee for the Busan Tower to see the skyline of Busan. In the mall there was a nice fountain as well.

    Am Abend haben wir dann noch die Lotte Mall besucht. Die Mall hat eine coole Dachterrasse von der wir einen Blick auf die Stadt und den Hafen hatten. Der Vorteil war, dass wir uns dadurch den Eintritt für den Busan Tower sparen konnten. Die Mall hatte zusätzlich noch einen coolen Brunnen.    Read more

    Busan - Haeundae & Gwangalli Beach

    Awesome we are traveling for 100 days now. To celebrate this we decided to do a beach day today. It was great just to lie in the sun on these beaches. During the day we spent our time on the Haeundae Beach. Here they say it is the "Copa Cabana of Korea". Next to the beach there are several restaurants and a traditional market street.
    In the afternoon we changed to Gwangalli Beach to see Busans "Golden Gate Bridge". To be honest the Golden Gate Bridge is much more impressive than the Gwangan Bridge.

    Jetzt sind wir 100 Tage unterwegs! Zur Feier des Tages haben wir uns einen Tag an Busans Stränden gegönnt. Es war wirklich schön mal wieder faul in der Sonne zu liegen. Am Vormittag waren wir am Haeundae Beach, der Copa Cabana von Brasilien. In dem angrenzenden Viertel sind viele Restaurants und eine traditionelle Marktstraße, sodass man hier auch nicht verhungert.
    Am Nachmittag sind wir dann zum Gwangalli Beach gefahren von wo aus man die "Golden Gate Bridge" von Busan sehen kann. Aber um ehrlich zu sein ist die Gwangan Bridge nicht annähernd so schön wie die Golden Gate Bridge.    Read more

    Sea Life Busan

    Today it rained a lot so we decided to visit Sea Life. It was fun even if we have seen better aquariums already. Good news we found penguins 🐧.

    After this visit we left Busan to go to Gyeongju.

    Heute hat es sehr stark geregnet weshalb wir den Vormittag im Sea Life Busan verbracht haben. Es war ganz lustig auch wenn wir definitiv schon bessere Aquarien besucht haben. Aber gute Nachrichten wir haben Pinguine🐧 gefunden!

    Nach unserem Besuch ging es dann mit dem Auto weiter nach Gyeongju.    Read more

    Gyeongju - Bulguksa, Tombs & More

    Tonight we will stay in a traditional hanok house in Gyeongju. It seems that we are the only guests. The houses are really great and in the rooms you can still smell the wood.
    After our arrival we visited the Bulguksa Temple and several tombs of former kings. The tombs are grass hills and they are almost everywhere in the town.

    Heute Nacht schlafen wir in einem traditionellen Hanok Haus. Es scheint so als wären wir hier die einzigen Gäste. Die Häuser sind wirklich toll und man kann noch das frische Holz riechen.
    Nach unserer Ankunft sind wir noch ein bisschen durch die Stadt gefahren und haben uns den Bulguksa Tempel sowie die Grabstätten von früheren Königen angesehen. Die Grabstätten bestehen aus Grashügeln welche überall in der Stadt verteilt sind.    Read more

    Donggung Palace & Wolji Pond

    At night we visited the Donggung Palace including the Wolji Pond. It was one of our highlights in Korea so far. The view to the palace and the mirror lake was really great.

    Back to the North: Gyeongju to Donghae

    We have left the southern part of South Korea today. The next two nights we will stay in Donghae, a city on the coast close to Pyeongchang. It is the last stop on our round trip through Korea. After the paralympics closing ceremony on sunday we will return to Seoul.

    The spring is over and we have winter again. It is stormy with some snow falls on the coast, but it should be a bit better within the next days.

    On the way to the north we found a cool Memorial and stopped for a short visit. After our arrival in Dinghae we had a great Korean BBQ once again.

    Wir haben den Süden heute in Richtung Donghae verlassen. Donghae ist eine Stadt an der Küste ganz in der Nähe von Pyeongchang und die letzte Station unserer Rundreise durch Korea. Nach der Abschlussfeier der Paralympics geht es für uns dann zurück nach Seoul. Der Frühling ist leider auch wieder vorbei. Hier ist es stürmisch und es schneit sogar ein bisschen.

    Auf dem Weg Richtung Norden haben wir noch ein cooles Denkmal gefunden. Zum Abschluss des Tages gab es dann nochmal ein koreanisches BBQ.    Read more

    Donghae - Cheongok Cave

    It is a big stalactite cave located in downtown Donghae. It was fun climbing through seeing all the stalactites and stalagmites.
