    Our farewell dinner

    August 25, 2023 in Tanzania ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

Our last stop was at the Rifiki art project where we were shown the three styles of local art, done with a brush, a palette knife, and with both. The paintings were all bright and colourful, but none of us were tempted to buy.

We walked through the village to get to our dinner stop. We went through narrow alleyways with children calling out to us at every turn. We stopped for a few minutes to watch a football match between two local teams.

Finally, we arrived at a local family home where Jordan and Neil had helped the ladies to cook a delicious local meal for us. My favourite dish was a spiced rice made using the rice grown in the village.

After dinner, we had farewell speeches from the crew and our fellow passengers, some of whom had been together for fifty days! We tipped Nash, Ibrahim, and John and then returned to the campsite on the truck. We had a drink in the bar with Luke and Ray and went to bed at about 9.45pm.
