    Behind Naubat Khana stands Diwan-i-Am, or Hall of Public Audience, where Shah Jahan received the general public and heard their grievances. This stunning building contains the emperor's marble throne.

    Our next stop was at Mumtaz Mahal, a royal apartment named after Shah Jahan's beloved Queen Mumtaz. The British used the building as a military prison after the first Indian freedom struggle in 1857.
