Sunrise over the Ganges

We slept well, but not for long enough! I could have happily slept for longer when the alarm went off at 4.30am! We had to meet in the lobby by 5 to get autos to take us back to Assi Ghat, where we were getting on a boat for a sunrise cruise.

When we arrived, there were almost as many people there as there had been last night. The Subah-e-Banaras, a morning ceremony to wake up Mother Ganges was in full swing. We watched proceedings for a while before making our way down to the 'beach' to board our boat. Before we did, the sun appeared over the horizon, and we witnessed a glorious sunrise.Leggi altro
