    Here we still didn't know that we're walking up the wrong trail

    Originally we planned on driving right down to Horseshoe Bay, to take the ferry to Vancouver Island. Gladly, we followed suggestions of others and decided to stop in Squamish for a night to hike up „The Chief“. What would we have missed!

    The plan was to walk up the mountain to take the Gondola back down. Funny thing is, we realised after a good hour that we‘re walking up the wrong trail. However, this was the luckiest thing that could‘ve happened to us, as the trail and view from the First Peak of the Chief were sooo great!
    After walking back down, we took the Gondola up to the initial spot we wanted to go. Obviously the view was awesome as well and we walked the famous suspension bridge.

    Vancouver Island - Arrival

    Last Saturday we took the ferry to one of the spots we were looking forward to most - Vancouver Island.
    During our ferry ride we got some information on west shore wildlife and had amazing views on the smaller islands between the main land and Vancouver island. As the island is too huge to cover completely in one week, we decided to visit Tofino, Victoria and everything we could see on the way.
    So after arriving in Nanaimo (east ), we took the route over to Tofino (west).    Читать далее

    Even though we arrived pretty late on Saturday evening, we were lucky to find a spot at one of the beautiful campgrounds right at the beach in Tofino.

    Unfortunately, the weather during our time on the west side wasn’t as sunny as we hoped it would be. However, the low hanging clouds made the beaches and trails look mysterious which was pretty cool too.

    After the first night at McKenzie Beach Resort we changed to Bella Pacifica campground which lies in the forest by the beach. (Definitely our favourite camping spot!)

    The first day we strolled through Tofino, had Fish and Chips and relaxed at the beach. On Monday we drove south to Ucluelet which is very similar to Tofino. The whole coast between the two towns is a surfers paradise and lots of young people come here to work and travel.    Читать далее

    Vancouver Island - Back East

    On our last morning in Tofino the sun finally decided to show. As we woke up pretty early (6am), we had time to stop at Combers beach and see seals chilling on the rocks by the beach.

    Afterwards we made our way back to the east side of the island and drove a bit further north to Campell River and see Elk Falls. I felt pretty proud of myself for crossing a suspension bridge again!

    Our final destination for the next 2 nights was the campground in Parksville which welcomed us with a beautiful 🌅.    Читать далее

    Last stop on Vancouver Island was beautiful Victoria. We spent the day walking around the city and checked spots such as Fishermen’s Wharf, the oldest China Town in Canada and Beacon Hill Park off our list.

    All in all, we both loved Vancouver Island with its diverse nature and beautiful beaches!

    As we planned on taking the first ferry at 6am, we spent the night close to Swartz Bay. Unfortunately, our super comfy air mattress didn’t make it through last night which made the final night in our car even shorter.    Читать далее
