    It was a beautifully hot day in Paraguay, and a great day for a hash (like really, when is not a good day for a hash?) We even had Mu-sick and Thar She Blows in town to join us from Key West.

    We had a pack of about 15, for this (5km walking / 8km runners) trail out in the countryside. Well, it might have been 8kms of trail, but somehow I managed to make it 10kms 😊. Another cool fact, there were 6 of the original 8 of us from trail #1 (Dec 2021), that returned for this trail. There were plenty of interesting twists and turns, and very little pavement, just the way we like it. After finishing up trail, we had a pleasant circle with loads of laughs, and some very tasty dinner. All in all, a very well set trail by Ban the Cock, and all was right in the world. Now, its time to venture over to Rio de Janeiro for Brazil Nash Hash next weekend.En savoir plus

    Brazil Nash Hash - Red Dress Run

    It was our first trail of the first Nash Hash in Brazil, and it was a Red Dress Run. Trail took us on an 8 Km loop though Ipanema and over to Leblon. It was a fun evening into night time trail, that had plenty of twist and turns through city streets. Walkers and runners finished all within 15 minutes, and after a quick group photo, we engaged in some circle activity before wrapping up and heading to dinner. Tight schedule had us at the beach side Carioca a few minutes early, but we stayed well past time for the kitchens to close, and drank plenty of beers and caipirinhas (and whatever else was on the drink menu). Having run, eaten, and drank all we could handle, the pack drifted off into the night to dream of sweet sugarplum trails tomorrow. Well done to the organizer committee, and the hares.     Brazil Nash Hash 2023 – Main Event

    It was a grand event on a slightly overcast day, but by the time we got knee deep into trail, the sun was a blazing . . . and we were drenched in natural vitamin D. After a brief introduction and chalk talk, the hares pointed us off on trail, and then the fun began. It was a city run through old town Rio de Janeiro, which including climbing many stairs, but most notably, the fashionable “Stairs of Rio.” Although we enjoyed many miles of running, we actually spent as much time hanging out at two beer checks, as we did navigating trail.

    In the end, we found ourselves near a huge park with a huge stone circle, that made for a perfect . . . you guessed it . . . CIRCLE. Many charges were brought up to the RA, and many down downs were delivered. We had two namings even. Also, it was determined that the Brazil Nuts H3 in Sao Paulo would be hosting the next Brazil Nash Hash in 2025. Next year, the Brasilia H3 will be hosting the first ever Pan South America Hash in the capital city of Brasilia. More to follow on that. Many thanks to the committee, the hares, and all the other support provided by the Rio H3 for this most excellent event.

    PS: There is a hangover trail tomorrow, but I have to be going . . . off to the airport for a red eye flight to Panama. More fun awaits.    En savoir plus

    Transiting the Panama Canal

    After the "red eye" flight from Rio to Panama City, I was a bit bushed, but that did not stop us from wandering around the city prior to making our way to the ship. Due to an Iron Man competition around the convention center and port, we actually had to walk the last mile in to catch the bus to the ship. But all was well, it was only 90 degrees out and sunny.

    After a nice evening at sea, and meeting all the other hashers, we started Monday by entering the Panama Canal, and spent most of the day making our way to the Caribbean.

    Hash Cruise – Cartagena, Colombia

    Gockel Stumper and Tight Lips took on the flour bag for this most excellent trail through the old city. They not only led us through the city, they actually placed four hundred thousand little chalk “Photo Checks” everywhere we should take a photo. 😊 Trail was explained as 4.5 miles for runners, and 2.5 miles for walkers. I don’t know how far the walkers walked, but I know I ran 6.5 miles . . . so it was a good day.

    Trail started with a wander through a bird park, then out into the ville. We eventually ended up about 2 miles away in a park that . . . you guessed it, more bird viewing. It was HOT, but we managed to fined several cases of cold beer and drag them over for all to enjoy. By the time circle was over, we had just enough time to walk the 2 miles back to the ship, before we were underway once again. On On to the next port . . . Aruba.    En savoir plus

    Hash Cruise – Aruba

    We did not arrive into port until 1 pm, so we had to scoot right out and scout trail in the hottest part of the day, but we managed to put together a good mixture of sightseeing and shiggy along this 4 mile runners / 3 mile walkers hash trail. Hares were Hazukashii and Calc-oholic, and we had about 20 hashers in chase for this late afternoon hash trail. It was A to B, with an end on the beach. Beer was super expensive here, so after one beer each, and a quick circle, we migrated to the 5 O’clock Bar and had numerous draft beers . . . on St Paddy’s Day. Good times on Aruba.En savoir plus

    Hash Cruise – Bonaire Flamingo H3

    We hit port on Saturday, and the Bonaire Flamingo H3 was holding their second annual Green Dress St Paddy’s Day hash. Trail was hared by Sweet Hole Sister Slammer, Where Do You Get Off!?!, and Hazukashii and was a short but sweet 2.5 miles of dry shiggy adventure. The photos pretty much tell the story. Where Do You Get Off!?! Led a brilliant circle that kept us all well entertained. Many thanks to the amazing Bonaire Flamingo H3 for hosting our crazy band of interlopers.En savoir plus

    Hash Cruise – Willemstad, Curacao

    Our final excursion ashore on this 9 day hash cruise. After wandering around the city in the morning, we gathered up for a trail hared by Keeps It Up and Wild Bush. This was a scurry through the streets of the port city of Scharloo. It was another short but fun jaunt, and an A to B run . . . as in A to BOAT, with the end and circle back on board.

    Trail started by running through the old fort, then out over the floating bridge (more on that later). Dodging tourists, the pack found arrows in many small alleyways as we darted back and forth. Coming to the SCB / FRB split, the walkers went left and the runners went right for an extra half mile around the lake, crossing a few more bridges before getting back to the floating bridge . . . which just happened to close for a bit as a boat needed to exit the inlet, and stranding most of the pack. The bridge moved back into place soon enough, and all was well. Another fun and interesting adventure for this hash cruise.    En savoir plus

    Hash Cruise - Debarkation

    We had one more day at sea, before reaching Colon, Panama, where we disembarked and boarded busses for the return to Panama City.

    That gave us one more night to party it up on the boat, and we wandered the boat, of course.

    Central Panama is quite beautiful, and the trip was full of sites to see. I like it here.

    After being dropped off at the airport, we Ubered down to the Old City to spend one more night. We will then fly up to Managua tomorrow.    En savoir plus

    Checking out the countryside to Leon

    Flight was only about 90 minutes, but had a few spicy moments with turbulents. Got through customs without event, got the rental car . . . and headed north to Leon. The drive was nice, pretty countryside and roads were good. Speed limit never got above 80 kms/hr so was a slow ride, but only a couple hours for the 100 km drive. Leon is a sleepy little college town, but we'll be doing some hiking.En savoir plus

    What to do, what to do . . . just hanging out in Nicaragua. Well, you climb an active volcano is what you do. Most recent eruption was about 7 years ago.

    Nicaragua H3 #417

    After several days of sightseeing, and climbing volcanos, it was time to get down to the facts of the matter . . . time to HASH. Start time was 0930 (that's AM for all you sleepy heads), and google said it was a 50 min drive, so just to be sure, we left at 0800. Worked out fine, we got there in time to find our way through the small town of Granada, on Lake Managua, and then out to Isletas de Granada, and finally down the dirt road to Rayito de Sol. From there we parked the car, and jumped into the hares truck for the final 2 kms out to the run site (and home of the hares). It was a beautiful setting on Lake Managua, as you can see from the pictures.

    As often can be the case, just finding the start can be half the challenge in hashing, and this was the case for some today. Fortunately we made it to the site without issue, but some of the locals did have some problems, and start was delayed about an hour until they arrived (we heard some hashers actually got frustrated and went home . . . hope that was only a rumor). We did have over 30 hashers on hand when we were sent off on trail.

    Chalk talk was all in Spanish, and my interpreter did a wonderful job of explaining to me what was going on . . . except I had to ask about some of the trail markings, and something was lost in translation. All I got was “there will be lots of arrows and plops” . . . so asked if an X was a false or intersection? It’s a false, so then asked if a circle was a check, and yes . . . but it was not, it was also a false (well, it was actually a circle with an X in it, but yes, also a false, as I would find out on trail after running down some arbitrary paths only to be called back. True trail was about 3 miles, so we ran it twice to get a good sweat on, before taking on some of the local cervezas. It was an awesome shiggy trail, on dirt paths, and roads.

    Circle soon followed, and it was all in Spanish or course. Very fun, I could make out about every 5th word, and others would throw in a few more at times. They called in the visitors, and then asked us to entertain them . . . so sang them a couple clean but fun songs. Then they served up a nice lunch of local flare. We chatted for another hour, and soon it was time to make the hour drive back to town. What a great adventure, on a great trail, and making many new friends.     Flight Cancelled, but finally in FLL

    After waiting all day yesterday, my flight was cancelled 4 hours before we were supposed to fly. Spent another night in Managua, and was rescheduled for a 1530 departure today. That flight went off as scheduled, but on arrival in Fort Lauderdale, it was raining . . . and all the drivers appeared to have lost their minds. Traffic was chaos. Finally got to the hotel, which was 3.5 miles away from the airport, not 1 mile like they stated . . . and the shuttle was not running.

    Sandwich and a beer, and off to bed. Up at 5 for the return trip to the airport for the final leg into Tampa.    En savoir plus

    It was the O4 Whore show, and she did not disappoint (except for that whole pizza order situation) 😊 There were two separate and mostly uncoordinated trails, one for walkers by O4 . . . and one for runners by Hazukashii. In the end, everyone seemed pleased that they got their monies worth. Walker’s trail had the full feature splurge of actual marks (on a 3 mile course), a beer stop, a shot stop, and lively chatter. The runner’s trail however, was nothing more than chasing the hare, set live, over 4.5 miles of flour and chalk. What kind of man made hell is that?!?!?

    We had two visitors from north of the border, well Edmonton to be exact. Haystack was the FRB, and the tag team of O4 and KISS managed to pull down the honors of dual Brainless awardees. Well done.    En savoir plus

    It was a perfect evening for a hash trail, as always. We had about 15 hashers turn up for the start, and after a bit of introductions, the hares (How I Met My Member and The Rock's Bottom) were off. The pack soon followed and we dodged our way through the park only to find a check back that took us back out the front of the park. From there, we explored quite a bit of sidewalk, as we made our way around the ville. In the end, it was BPAW and his virgin rolling in as the FRBs.

    As the rest of the pack continued to roll into the finish, we rehydrated and heard stories from the virgin about his Great Great Grandpa, and how he was a hasher back in the 1960s. We were listening intently, and asking questions . . . so he called him. Turns out he was a hash, but started in 1980 (4 years before I started), and had hashed in a lot of similar places. Turns out he was also a fellow Seoul Men’s Hash bruddah. We had a good chat, but then we had to get down to business as Bloody Sanchez ripped off dozens of down downs on the pack . . . and SSS got iced for being forgetful. A great night on the hash.     I just realized in all my bouncing around, I have been to 3 TBH3 trails this year, and hared them all. 😊 😊 😊

    This one started a little late, as our resident tardy hasher . . . Meta, was . . . you guessed it . . . tardy. Once the pack of 5 (a few that said they were coming ended up wanking on the beach, or some such other excuse) gathered, and it was hare away. I had several ideas of what I could do, so I just asked the pack what they wanted . . . in the end, they wanted a walker’s trail of 3 miles and a runner’s trail of 4 . . . so that is what they got. It was a hot day, but it is still spring, so hot was only 88 degrees. No MM turned up, so after setting trail, I swung by a convenience store and picked up some beer, and did a swing by of the pack. Found the walkers and gave them all a beer. By the time I got back to the finish, the 2 runners had finished, and we went into a the usual cock and bull session while we waited.

    Meta conducted a quick circle, and off we went to the on after. Good food, good drink, and maybe a cute waitress. All’s well that ends well. On on until the next time.    En savoir plus

    It was Math Sucks trail, after receiveing word of her graduation and officially became a DOCTOR. It was also her BIRTHDAY. Yay!!!!

    Ably assisted by Captain Caveman, or as some people know him, Shitting Bull, Math set an interesting trail that included a golf course, one or two sidewalks, and a High School (that had a locked gate, yea, did anyone mention that? Set a trail at 3 pm, and by 8 pm, its all locked up. 😊 ). In the end, we managed to figure it out (well, most of us), and all was right in the world. We had a special visiting stand in RA, as Gator ate my !#$!@#$@ was visiting from Virginia.

    We also had another visitor . . . Pervarotti, visiting from the DC area. He regaled us with a couple songs of unknown origin, which were well received. It was a good day of celebration and congratulations . . . to our new Brain Child. Happy Birthday Doctor.    En savoir plus
