When in Frankfurt…

The Frankfurt airport is quite the bottleneck for catching a connecting flight, so when our LONG Denver to Frankfurt flight arrived with only a short hour to catch our plane to Zagreb, we missed our 12:35pm flight. Next one - 10pm. So we decided to get a feel for this central German city on the River Main. The regional metro trains and stations are clean and quiet - compared to the NYC subways we are very familiar with. Downtown Frankfurt was crowded, dirty, plenty of down and out people … sad to see. We did have a very tasty Indian meal before we headed back to the airport, where we are waiting for our late flight as a little rainstorm drifts by. Boy oh boy, am I tired! The hardly any sleep I got squeezed into that 10 hour plane seat is catching up to me now. We happened upon a very enthusiastic parade of football (soccer) fans while downtown, fueled by lots and lots of beer and testosterone.Read more
