Unexpected Frankfurt

I never thought we would spend an afternoon in Frankfurt but since our plane delayed we took the train from the airport to City Square $25 round trip for us both). It took about 25 minutes to figure out how to get the tickets and where we were going since our German is poor but we did it operating on the principle that we could turn around and return anytime we felt like we were“ drifting away from shore”. But we did great and ended up seeing The Atlas and the beautiful train station and getting a real feel for big city life in Frankfurt. ⏰ my observations today were that people don’t dress as colorful as in NYC. The subways and trains are clean. Stores and restaurants offer a lot of healthy options. (I ate a marvelous paper dosa today and 3 dipping curries!) People are generally not that friendly but I did ask for help today and found some very nice people to give me directions etc. The forests we saw on our short train ride were lovely and poverty, homelessness, addiction, mental illness and more extend beyond borders. And Dave surprised me with his spontaneous German language memory from his childhood! Aside from lousy airline delays today was a good day.Read more
