      Széchenyi Thermal Baths

      This is one of my favourite places in Europe, they're the biggest european thermal baths with its 15 indoor baths and 3 grand outdoor pool.
      Perfect time and place for relaxing.
      I suggest coming here in winter to appreciate the cold/warm effect made by the cold air and the warm thermal water.Les mer

      Budapest

      We had a very good sleep in and slower morning after boat party last night!

      We walked to the central markets to explore the handicrafts (including beautiful leather and lace products) and also to try làngos, which was recommended by our guide yesterday. It is a kind of deep fried pizza base traditionally served with sour cream and cheese, and it is absolutely delicious!

      After our much needed hangover food, we walked along the Danube to the location of the ‘Jewish Shoes’ memorial. These are bronze shoes that symbolise the Jewish people who were shot and pushed into the Danube river by the Hungarian Nazi soldiers, the Arrow Cross. It is very moving and such a devastating aspect of WWII history that we had not heard about before.

      We then made our way to St Stephen’s basilica, where we were able to go inside and also explore the treasury as well as a fantastic view over Budapest. There was plenty of ornamental gold inside the basilica but one very interesting item is the mummified right hand of St Stephen! After exploring the church, we went up to the roof for some brilliant views over the city and even got to hear the bells as we were there on the hour!

      After the basilica, we went back to the hostel to chill out as we had another eventful night planned! We started with dinner in the Karavan food truck lane, enjoying a traditional Hungarian goulash served in a bread bowl, followed by drinks in the original ruin bar, Szimple Kert. We had heard stories but nothing can describe how cool it is once you walk in - it is like a district with many different types of bars within the one building, with walls covered in graffiti/decorations.

      No visit to Budapest would be complete without experiencing the thermal baths and so we made our way to Sparty, a rave party in a spa! It is just like going to a spa, except with DJs, fire twirlers, dancers of stilts, dancers with reflective mirror costumed, acrobats and other live performances going all night with thousands of people! We had such a fun night enjoying drinks and dancing in the thermal baths! We enjoyed a beer each and wine but the drinks are definitely expensive at this party! After we felt we had had the proper experience, we took a long leisurely walk back to the hostel to sleep.      Les mer

      Das Széchenyi Thermal Bad

      Highlight des Tages ist jedoch das Széchenyi-Heilbad, man betritt es durch eine imposante Eingangshalle mit reich verzierten Decken und Wänden. Aufgrund seiner Ausmaße ist es das größte seiner Art in Europa. Es wurde nach dem Staatsmann Graf István Széchenyi benannt.

      Am am 15. November 1868 begannen die Bohrungen nach Thermalwasser und endeten erst im Januar 1878 in einer Tiefe von 970,48 Metern.

      1881 wurde das erste Badehauses auf der Nádor-Insel eröffnet. Die Kosten beliefen sich auf 28.485 Forint und 57 Krajcár. Mit Inbetriebnahme der ersten Budapester U-Bahn-Linie im Jahr 1896, deren Endstation direkt beim Bad lag und auch nach diesem benannt war, verbesserte sich die Erreichbarkeit deutlich.      Les mer

      EP. 5 | La maggior parte degli omicidi di ebrei lungo il fiume Danubio avvenne tra il dicembre 1944 e il gennaio 1945, inoltre sparare agli ebrei sul ciglio dell’Acheronte fu conveniente per smaltire i corpi. Infine costrinsero quelle genti terrorizzate a togliersi le scarpe prima di ucciderle, durante la II guerra mondiale rappresentò una merce preziosa di scambio.

      Ahimè rividi Caronte, lo stesso schiavo incaricato di accertarsi della morte di quegl’uomini e bambini sconfitti, non graziati dandogli il colpo finale nel caso fosse ancora aggrappati a qualche grammo futile di vita.

      Al fine del male navigava sull’onde del Danubio con una mazza insanguinata di atrocità, avendo il volto coperto da una maschera, rappresentante Caronte (il nocchiero mitologico che traghettó le anime dei defunti da una riva all'altra attraverso l’ Acheronte, nel regno degli Inferi).

      Dopodiché aver assolto a questo compito, recuperó i cadaveri trascinati dall’acqua putrida caricandoli su di un carro o su una barella, attraverso la porta dell'inferno li depose nello spoliarium, l’obitorio dell’anfiteatro, dove venivano tolte a loro le scarpe.      Les mer

      ATTO 11 CAP 9 IL PURGATORIO DI SZÈCHENYI

      EP. 9 | Si presenta così il purgatorio? Un’edificazione giallo ocra consumata dai passanti, immersa tra forme d’acqua fatte a spirali che trascinano piccole persone come fossero leggere come piuma?

      Osservai attonito tutto ciò che mi circondava comprese le persone presenti o più semplicemente quelle grandi vasche purificatrici di peccati, cercando di memorizzare quanto più possibile i loro comportamenti e funzionalità per la mia redenzione, persino le abitudini dei più datati (vecchi) seduti su sdraie come fossero piedistalli.

      Provai a ricordare i tempi andati, di quando venni già in questo luogo in un’epoca ormai sbiadita nei cassetti della mia memoria, sfruttando perciò una raggiunta consapevolezza di conquistarmi il purgatorio. Subito dopo, sentii gli occhi di un uomo 60enne addosso come una coperta di vergogna, probabilmente per la mia pelle sporca d’inchiostro confronto alla sua pulita e cadente.

      Così che tornai a quando da bambino con l’attenzione a ciò che mi succedeva intorno, osservavo le persone, i loro comportamenti senza saper che un domani fossi finito proprio assieme a loro per colpa di scelte errate in maniera persistente.

      Chiusi quell’incrocio di sguardi prima di ricadere nei meandri particolari che si ricordano con un sorriso magari un po’ malinconico; altri, invece furono considerazioni più realistiche e proprio per questo tendenzialmente più dure da accettare.      Les mer

      ATTO 11 CAP 10 ESISTENZA NEL PURGATORIO

      EP. 10 | “Dentro al periodo” piuttosto lungo, richiese un’incubazione pieno d’emozioni, di riflessioni e di scelte lontane dalle certezze di esser un pregiudicato al cospetto dei momenti più difficili che furono talora insopportabili, in seguito preferii che non vennero affatto risolti, essi in realtà, furono dei passaggi indispensabili verso un nuovo modo di essere e di vivere, nascondendo profondi cambiamenti interni ed esterni dell’ambiente circostante.

      Furono anche delle mie piccole morti e rinascite che mi resero un’anima nuova, mutata nel profondo, anzi un po’ come aver cambiato pelle, purificandomi da tutte quelle impurità e da tutto ciò che non avevo ancor ricordato del mio passato qui. Perciò quando cambiai davvero tutto il resto intorno a me inevitabilmente cambió di conseguenzə.

      Infine accettai il temer del cambiamento ma semplicemente l’agevolai personalmente, nutrendo ciò che mi rimase del corpo, immagini positive e di suoni pieni di armonia che alleggerirono il carico e la fatica vissuta, le acque di Szèchenyi mi fornirono l’energia per affrontare il passaggio e andare verso una nuova fase dell’esistenza (il purgatorio).       Heute waren wir den ganzen Tag im Széchenyi Thermalbad, eines der bekanntesten hier!⛲️ Davor haben wir uns kurz den Heldenplatz angesehen, der nur 400m entfernt liegt! Abends gingen wir dann in die Hummusbar etwas essen und machten uns dann auf den Weg zu unserer Schiffsfahrt, die um 22 Uhr begann und 1,5h dauerte.⛵️ Danach gingen wir noch ins Szimpla Kert, einen Ruinenbar in der man wirklich gut feiern kann! Gegen 3 fielen wir dann erschöpft ins Bett!Les mer

      Gibt es was Besseres als am letzten Budapest Tag in das Spa Thermal Bad Szechenyi zu gehen? 😎💆🏻‍♀️ 15 Indoor Pools, 3 Outdoor pools und zahlreiche Saunen ☀️ das Bad ist schon über 100 Jahre alt und prägend für viele Thermalbäder in Europa 🏆
      die Entspannung war nötig nach 90.000 Schritten in den letzten Tagen 😂

      Is there anything better than going to the Spa Thermal Bath Szechenyi on the last day of Budapest? 😎💆🏻‍♀️ 15 indoor pools, 3 outdoor pools and numerous saunas ☀️ the pool is over 100 years old and has shaped many thermal pools in Europe 🏆
      the relaxation was necessary after 90,000 steps in the last few days 😂

      Bevor wir Budapest verlassen müssen wir noch in ein Thermalbad

      Das Széchenyi-Heilbad wurde 1913 erbaut. Es hat außen und innen viele verschiedene Becken mit unterschiedlichen Temperaturen. Zusätzlich gibt es überall verschiedene Saunen.

      Überall hören wir verschiedene Sprachen und wir sind nicht uptodate: heute zu Tage trägt Frau Handy und Sonnenbrille beim schwimmen.      Les mer

      Jour 17 - Aux thermes de Buda

      La journée détente a débuté par un petit déjeuner local à base de chimney cakes sous toutes ses formes : nature, chocolat, framboise, avec crème glacé ou sorbet, … 😋

      Nous nous sommes ensuite rendus aux Thermes Széchenyi, les plus grands de la capitale Hongroise (et les plus touristiques) et comptant parmi les plus grands d’Europe. Ces thermes sont constitués de 21 bassins allant de 18 à 40 degrés celsius, de hammam et saunas. Ils ont été construit et ouvert au public au début du XX ème siècle et sont encore aujourd’hui ouverts 7j/7 pour les visiteurs ainsi que les curistes.
      Nous avons testé une grande partie des bassins et nous sommes prélassés pendant 3h. ☀️

      Nous avons ensuite changé d’appartement dans Pest, un peu plus au sud cette fois ci, et sommes sortis pour prendre un verre dans le quartier.

      Demain devrait être une journée bien remplie, on a hâte de vous la raconter 🤩      Les mer
