Shopping and bike delay

Went to Austria this morning to fill up Philipp’s car with diesel (20c cheaper there).
Toured the city, shops, power plant (50MW) and locks on the Danube, side by side.
Then to the bike dealerRead more
Autobahns

Picked up the bike then both car and bike to Munich to pick up Jill at the airport.
A few light showers then back to Passau.
Cars zip past even when you are doing 140 mph.
Passau Bierfest

Quick tour of Passau and St Stephens (The Dome) with the 3rd biggest organ in the world. Makes me feel insignificant. Then a meal, send off for Phillip family afternoon tea then packing.
Cesky Krumlov

Rode through light snow successfully. Directions from the bike’s speakers (ex Jill’s phone map app) brilliant.
Prague

Good beer, pork, coffee and cakes. Plenty of tourists too.
Prague

Castle today and a cake ....
Prague to Pilsen

Beer town. Pretty.
Pilsen to Rosenheim

Time to do some kilometres before it rains. However we did have a few showers going through a national park and forests. Took a long cut from the cafe in Zwiesel. Too busy to take photos.

Germany to the Austria border and up the mountains and down again into Italy. Relatively steep and long descent at 110kph. Dangerous. Corten steel type barriers. Jill found this lake village -Read more
Mothers Day

Rode alongside the lake at 50kph mostly through the very picturesque and tourist populated east side of the lake - Lago de Guarda. Then to Asti to sleep.
Grapes and tunnels

To Menton (near Monaco). Vines on very steep slopes, then tunnels to France then waterfront hotel. Some slow sections but pretty and warmer.
Grasse

Saved money today by buying perfume. Not much biking.
Smells of Grasse

Motorways

Big

To Toulouse before the rain
Toulouse

First to the bike shops - 5 or so all lined up together. Then the big machines. Later another lovely welcoming dinner.
Eurovision

Quiet day. Noisy night. Now know a little about Eurovision and that’s enough. Fun party though.
Sunday in Toulouse

We were treated to a tasty Morrocan lunch in the Toulouse city centre by our 4 hosts. Yum. Then a walk around town.
Montauban

Checked out the apartment market here. Interesting. Staying in our hosts’ mother’s house. Beautiful town.
Saint Cere

Beautiful old towns today
Gently does it

Short ride to to lunch then lodgings. Also checked country road speed limit and it is 80, (erk) although many don’t obey it. 110 for divided (almost) motorways and 130 for motorways.
Food

Breakfast, a few km, lunch at Saint Etiene, a few more km to make up 300 and gourmet dinner at where-ever we are now.
Eguisheim in Alsace, NE France

My navigator did a sterling job again today. Beautiful old towns and more gourmet food.
