Kilmurry

Today was one of our favourite days yet, driving the Dingle Peninsula 😍 We drove Slea Head Drive which is a circular route of the coast and made lots of stops on the way, including:

📍 Minard Castle - had to drive down a windy narrow road surrounded by steep paddocks full of sheep to get here. Amazing views
📍 Beehive Huts - little ringforts made entirely of stone. They were lived in by farming families earlier than 1200 AD. The guy at the gate was probably 80 years old speaking a blend of English and Gaelic, we could not understand him 🤣
📍 Cuomeenhole Beach - stunning walk to the top and around the hill to Dunmore Head which was a filming location for Lord of the Rings. We could also saw dozens of basking sharks feeding on fish below us, they would have been at least 5m long!
📍 Dunquin - stopped here at Europe’s most western pub for a drink 🍺
📍 Gallarus Oratory - a 1300 year old stone building built by early Christians as a worship place. Vikings destroyed the land/people who lived around it but the little building stayed intact. Jacques tested the old legend of wiping away your sins by trying to climb through the tiny window 😂
📍 Dingle - cute colourful fishing village, lots of tourists we just bypassed through
📍 Connor pass waterfall - hiked to the top where there was an amazing lake that freezes during winter ❄️
