      Tokyo Disney Sea

      Old habits die hard and the mouse gets his due. Had to pay homage to my old employer... and I'm still a bit of a Disney geek at heart. Plus, it's literally half the cost of Disney in the States! This was last minute planning, and we wanted a chiller day after Fuji/jetlag/Rachel's wicked sunburn kinda wrecked us. We took a leisurely stroll around the park, rode a few rides, ate some tasty food. The hot dog gyoza was hearty, and the Salty Ice Cream Clam was refreshing with the heat. The, um, interestingly packaged, "pretzel dog" was a suggestive sausage stuffed in a baguette.
      DisneySea is probably the best theme park in the world; immaculate theming, unique rides, and all with the attention to detail Japan often shows. Oh, and the average attendee was much more behaved than the US parks sees; no tantrums in sight. Payment has been made, Mickey won't come knocking for awhile now.      Leer más

      Disney Sea - done and dusted!

      Overall a much better park and a much better day! We managed to do every single ride we wanted (the top 10 or so) without waiting in any of the big queues at all. Just by buying all the paid fast passes and collecting the free fast passes as soon as possible, we got through all the main rides by 5:30pm. A lot of blogs online said it couldn't be done, and that you needed at least two days to get them all, but we managed it all in one. It was a long day though!

      Soaring, Journey to, Indiana Jones, Toy Story Mania, and Tower of Terror were all such great rides. The staff were all super friendly. We managed to cover 26k steps today!

      So Disney Sea doesn't really have many "sea" attractions. I was expecting dolphin shows and such, but it was more just sea-themed rides.

      Merch at both parks wasn't too expensive. Shirts were $30, jumpers $40, Disney ears were $20. Food was pretty cheap too, $50 for two meals and two drinks.

      Also - let the record state: I got about 10 compliments today about my cat shirt today. Japanese people love cats apparently?! They kept saying "neko, kawaii" 😂      Leer más

      Disneyland Tokyo (by Lewis)

      A few days ago we went to Disneyland in Tokyo. My parents got us tickets as a birthday present for my brother and me. Some of my favorite rides there were Big Thunder Mountain, a whooping rollercoaster, and the Happy Ride with Baymax, which is Baymax driving you around in a triple figure eight. One of my favorite foods was the mochi dumplings with different flavors inside. It’s hard to believe, but they were shaped like the Little Green Aliens from Toy Story. My favorite flavor was the chocolate mochi.
      Disneyland Tokyo was a lot more fun than Disneyland California. For example, there are a lot more popcorn stands in Tokyo than in California. The popcorn flavors are curry, salt, caramel, chocolate, cookie, and strawberry. Additionally, there is no line cutting. Everybody stands in long lines patiently. Something a bit unusual was that strangers wave at strangers all the time. For example, when I was waiting for Mom and Andrew to finish going on Raging Spirits, almost everyone that went by waved at me. There may be less rollercoasters in Tokyo, but there are definitely more activities to do in Tokyo than in California.      Leer más

      אתמול חזרנו לטוקיו.
      4 שעות בשינקנסן מהירושימה. רכבת נוחה עם הרבה מקום לרגליים.
      חזרנו למלון של רשת Ent Terrace, הפעם ברובע אסקוסה.
      חדר לחמישה, מרווח במונחים יפניים.
      אכלנו ארוחת ערב בקורה סושי, שברנו שיא אישי עם 50 צלחות.

      בבוקר קמנו מוקדם כדי להגיע לדיסני בזמן הפתיחה, בתשע. שלוש רכבות ותוך 50 דקות הגענו. אחת הרכבות הייתה כל כך עמוסה שכולם נדחסו בתוך הקרון בלי יכולת להסתובב. ועדיין, כולם בשקט מופתי. כשהרכבת עוצרת מי שליד הדלת יורד כדי לאפשר לאנשים לצאת מהקרון, וחוזר אחרי שכולם ירדו.
      הגענו קצת לפני הזמן והצטרפנו לתורים הארוכים והמסודרים של אנשים שחיכו לכניסה. עדיין הכל מסודר. הרבה עומדים בשמש עם מטריות נגד שמש.
      הפארק דומה לשאר הפארקים של דיסני, הכניסה עולה רבע ממחיר הכניסה בארצות הברית 💵
      שלגיה, סינדרלה, פינוקיו, it's a small world, ספייס מאונטיין, ספלאש מאונטיין, באז שנות אור, מפלצות בע''מ ועוד.
      היפנים מאוד אוהבים את הסחורה הממותגת. רובם הולכים עם משקפיים, חולצות, כובעים, קשתות לשיער או תיקים ממותגים בדיסני שנקנו בפארק. זה מאוד חמוד. לא ברור איפה הם שומרים את כל הדברים האלו אחר כך בחדרים הקטנים שלהם בבית.
      בצהריים המקומיים פרשו מחצלות אישיות וכל אחד התיישב עם קופסת הבנטו שלו לאכול. שוב מאוד מסודר, אחד ליד השני. כמו טטריס ענק הרצפה התמלאה באנשים על מחצלות אישיות. רצינו לצלם אבל לא היה נעים.

      Tokyo Hilton Baymax

      Final day of our Japanese stopover. We stayed at the Hilton to max out our Diamond years while they last. It is a fantastic hotel and, besides not getting the Happy 15 minutes, it proved to be a very convenient base for Disney.
      Today was all about Baymax.. and Tokyo Disneyland. We bought Baymax hats, accessories, rides and we even ate him. We tried new rides not found in the other parks and then talked our way back into the executive lounge after check-out to chill until our "limousine" (bus) arrived.      Leer más

      Disneyland Tokyo

      Ein (Kindheits-) Traum geht für uns in Erfüllung: Disneyland 🧜‍♀️🧞🧚‍♂️
      Als gewohnte Frühaufsteher waren wir bereits um 8:30 Uhr am Park. Nach kurzem Warten in der prallen Sonne ging es dann auch schon los und wir strömten mit den Menschenmassen hinein, direkt auf das Schloss 🏰 zu.
      Natürlich durften die obligatorischen Mickey/Minnie-Mouse-Ohren nicht fehlen.
      Wir sind in vielen Fahrgeschäften gewesen. Unser Highlight: "Space Mountain" 🚀👩‍🚀. Im Dunkeln (nur ein paar Sterne waren zu sehen) super schnell in einer Achterbahn in der ersten Reihe fahren, ohne zu wissen, in welche Richtung es geht und wann eine Kurve kommt.
      Unsere letzte Fahrt war im "Splash Mountain" 💦, eine Wildwasserbahn mit einem steilen Abgang und der Garantie nass zu werden. Eine Person (Tabea) hat zwar etwas mehr Wasser abbekommen, aber es hat trotzdem viel Spaß gemacht.
      Tabea hat zudem ihre Nervosität überwunden und ist in jedes Fahrgeschäft gegangen.
      Leider konnten/wollten wir nicht in das Schloss aus dem Film "Die Schöne und das Biest", da die Wartezeit 90 Minuten betrug und wir in der Sonne hätten warten müssen.

      Nach zwei sehr ereignisreichen und auch anstrengenden Tagen ruhen wir morgen unsere Füße aus und steuern unser nächstes Ziel mit dem Shikansen 🚅 an.      Leer más

      Tokyo Day two

      We woke up at seven a.m. to get a bus to Disney Sea and got McDonald's for breakfast. We got to Disney Sea at 8:15 when it was starting to open. Once we got in, we went straight to the ride soaring, which had a 2-hour wait. So then we went to 20000 leagues under the sea. After that we went to Ariel's playground and met up with mom, Sawyer, and Grammie. Then we took a boat ride to the Indiana Jones ride and used the fast pass for it. The next thing we did was to go to dinner. Once we were done with dinner then we went to the ride Down To The Center Of The Earth. Finally we did our last rides which were Raging Spirits, Soaring, which we had fast passes for, and Gondola's. Raging Spirits and Soaring were fun but the Gondola was well timed with the Disneyland fireworks. Then we caught a 7:30 bus home.Leer más

      Gondolas

      Had some time to kill so went down to little Italy. The gondola ride was cute. It was good to rest our feet and just enjoy a bit of peace and quiet. I wish I could have understood what the gondola operator was saying because everyone else on the ride was laughing except for us lolLeer más

      Tower of Terror

      I was not expecting that! They take you up to the top of the tower so you can the whole park, then they do a dummy drop and only drop you a few metres. Then when you think you're safe, they drop you the rest of the way. Then it takes you back up for another drop!!! Glad we tried it once, but we aren't daring enough to do it a second time lol.Leer más

      Toy Story Mania

      Well that was a walk down memory lane! It's such a fun point and shoot ride - probably the best we've ever done! On your cart, you could pull the trigger to shoot darts, plates, rings and balls at targets. All while passing your favourite Toy Story characters. Even the waiting room was awesome - Andy's bedroom, oversized furniture, and army men! I won of course, although pretty far off the daily high score of over 600k!Leer más
