Hiking - Day 5

Today we awoke to............rain! And it rained pretty much all day. We walked 10.5 miles from Tolmin to Kobarid in the rain. If it was going to rain all day, today was the easiest day to hike in it. Fortunately, the trail was pretty level, a gradual uphill, and mostly all on asphalt or gravel road. The little bit that went through the forest was easy walking and beautiful. We walked past a campground, through small villages, larger towns, through pastures, and on busy streets. We saw ducks, cows, sheep/goats and just beautiful landscapes. Just outside of the town we were hiking to, we meet a couple from Australia who were waiting for the bus. They were planning on hiking today but when the weather didn't clear up, they forfeited the idea and we're just going to the next town.

Upon arriving in Kobarid we got out of our clothes and hung them around the room in hopes of them drying overnight. Our apartment has a common room downstairs where we met our friend for a glass of wine. After a short nap we went to dinner at Hisa Polonka, a restaurant with local fare. Jeff had wild boar and Eileen had shepherds pie with potato and cheese, like a fried pierogi.
