Day 508: Tallinn World Heritage Site

    July 7, 2018 in Estonia ⋅ ⛅ 20 °C

One of the reasons we'd come here is because Tallinn itself is a world heritage site - the old town is one of the best preserved Baltic merchant towns with a lot of interesting stuff to see. Some cool cathedrals, a few really well preserved buildings including merchant and guild houses from the 14th century.

Only downside is that Tallinn is definitely on the cruise route, and the old town was jam packed with people following flags and listening to headphones. Lots of kitschy faux-medieval stuff in the town square as well, people dressed up in costumes and stuff which I'm not generally a huge fan of. Felt very crass and commercial.

We spent most of the day wandering around and filming, though we also spent some time chilling out at a restaurant for lunch. Took us a while to find something reasonably priced, but we managed in the end! Quite tasty and down a back street so not many crowds which we all enjoyed.
