Te Araroa - Tag 15

🇩🇪 Tag 15: 27,4 km Tidesong B&B - Taurikura Bay

Heute war ein Tag zum Kämpfen. Es fing alles gut an, Ros, die Frau im Tidesong hat mich mit dem Ruderboot auf die andere Seite des Flusses gebracht. Von da zieht sich der Weg auf den Kauri Mountain. Von oben hat man eine herrliche Aussicht über die Küste. Beim Abstieg kann man schon den nächsten Abschnitt über den 9 km langen Ocean Beach einsehen, an dessen Ende zwei Gipfel überquert werden. Diese hängen aber in einer dicken Regenwolke. Kurze Zeit später fängt es auch an zu regnen. Nachdem dann noch die Spitze meines Wanderstocks abgebrochen ist, konnte es nur noch besser werden 🤪 Der Strand hat mich in Gedanken zwei Wochen zurück versetzt, als wir über den 90 Miles Beach gewandert sind. Seither ist schon so viel passiert 🥰 Der Weg über die beiden Gipfel ging immer sehr steil hoch und runter und war mega schlammig. Doch man hatte immer wieder schöne Ausblicke. Und beim finalen Abstieg hat sich der Blick über die Urquharts Bay geöffnet. Nun hieß es nur noch Unterkunft finden. Da alle Möglichkeiten nicht verfügbar waren, habe ich mir noch das letzte AirBnB geschnappt. Direkt am Strand gelegen mit sehr netten Vermietern. Hier bereiten sich alle auf den drohenden Sturm vor, der Sonntag und Montag über die Insel ziehen soll. Ich bin gespannt, was uns erwartet.

🇺🇸 Day 15: 27.4 km Tidesong B&B - Taurikura Bay

Today was a day for fighting. It all started well, Ros, the woman in the Tidesong took me to the other side of the river in the rowboat. From there the path stretches up the Kauri Mountain. From the top you have a wonderful view of the coast. As you descend you can already see the next section over the 9 km long Ocean Beach, at the end of which two peaks are crossed. But these are hanging in a thick rain cloud. A short time later it starts to rain. After the tip of my hiking pole broke off, things could only get better 🤪 The beach took me back two weeks in my mind when we hiked across 90 Miles Beach. So much has happened since then 🥰 The path over the two peaks was always very steep up and down and was super muddy. But there were always beautiful views. And on the final descent the view over Urquharts Bay opened up. Now all that was left was to find accommodation. Since all options were not available, I grabbed the last AirBnB. Located right on the beach with very nice landlords. Everyone here is preparing for the impending storm that is expected to hit the island on Sunday and Monday.
