A train destroyed by T. E. Lawrence (Lawrence of Arabia) and the beduin? Maybe, we don't know exactly. But this part of the railway line was often attacked by bedouin. Sadly people have sawed off most parts of the engine and only little is left over.

The Hejaz Railway ran from Damaskus to Medina. It was build between 1900 and 1908 by Germany for the Ottoman Empire to improve the connection between Constantinople and the Holy Cities Medina and Mecca. It was opened for transport in 1913. During World War I bedouin forces under the leadership of T. E. Lawrence attacked and from time to time destroyed parts of the tracks.

Wir schiessen ein paar Photos, verschwinden einzeln hinter Sanddünen, laufen über die noch sehr gut erhaltene Brücke, machen ein Gruppenphoto auf ihr und dann sollte die Fahrt weitergehen.
