From AusTx to Davis Mountains SP

Finally packed and ready to roll, with enough of a route planed out. Jay, Jan & I took off about 10AM. A few stops : gas, a picnic lunch, a couple of rest areas and arrived at campsite 70 in the Davis Mountains Texas State Park. Not a bad campsite but next time I will reserve site #78, it was a little closer to the restrooms but not too close and it had shade.

On our first hike the next day we got a bit of a late start and it was already hot. Jay wanted us to turn around after about 30 minutes and we should have listened to her. When we finally did turn back, we took a steep trail and Jan lost her footing and twisted her foot. She was able to scoot down to the trail head on her but and I went and got Vanette.

After sorting a few things at the campsite, I drove her to the ER in Alpine. X-rays showed it wasn't broken & they called it a contusion. And since none of us is in shape for long hard hikes we are only slightly disappointed.Leggi altro
