Fort Davis National Historic Site

After our visit to the ER, we stopped at Fort Davis National Historic Site. I had been here a year or 2 before. I had visited the site before but Jan hadn't ever been and it was worth seeing again for me. It was too hot (101*) to see it all but it was worth the visit. It was a site where many Buffalo Soldiers had been stationed and fit in with my summer trip when I stopped and many civil rights historic sites.

I had forgotten about Second Lt. Henry O. Flipper, the first black graduate of West Point. I would love to know more about him.

Afterwards we stopped for ice cream 🍦 Jay got her own cup and enjoyed it very much.

Later that evening we went to Marfa. We ran into an eccentric guy named 'Sleeper'. He was quite a character. Jan invited him to dinner and we had an adventurous evening.Read more
