Chimney Rock National Monument, CO

I decided to add an afternoon stop to the day. It was visible on the paper map but the GPS had a hard time finding it. But I saw a sign and we made it. It was hot but they had kennels for dogs and since Jay was the first dog there for the day, she got the biggest, nicest kennel, under some lovely shade trees.

It was a 3 mile drive from the visitor center & kennels up to the top where the hike and ruins were. It wasn't a long hike but it was a bit steep and hot. The ruins were some of the best we'd seen, especially since we were able to join a ranger giving a tour. She was really good.

I'll have to add the details about the significance of the site later as for right now I am just trying to catch up before I forget where I was and in what chronological orderLue lisää
