• It's a Whole New Day!! ✨️✨️✨️

    22 janvier 2024, Mexique ⋅ ☁️ 22 °C

I had such a good sleep last night that I was wide awake WAITING for the sunrise to greet me this morning! I was even up before the coffee was ready! I was feeling rested and eager, enthusiastic and excited to see where this whole new day of opportunities takes us!!

I am celebrating the fact that we are here for 11 days because if it was just a week, we'd already be heading home today. I'm just starting to feel like I know where I'm going ... and ... I'm glad it's not in the direction of home just yet! 😉

We decided to wander back to the beach today ... even though it's not supposed to be the 'beachiest' weather. The forecast was calling for more cloud and more wind and even cooler temps (by that I mean 23°C) with a mix of sun and clouds.

We had a few beach stops on our 'must-see' list that we still wanted to check off! Sis recommended 'The Office' for lunch ... and ... I loved the idea of enjoying an outdoor massage at The Sand Bar!

So ... off we went! On our way, we stopped by Baja Brewing to make a reservation for dinner. The view of the beach was lovely and the birds were collecting nectar nearby! The old boy enjoyed a Pacifico while I sipped from my Starbucks 'water' bottle! 🤥

All I can say is thank goodness we can buy wine by the bottle at Walmart because it is so EXPENSIVE to order in a restaurant. So, I just fill my 'water bottle' before we head out and can inconspicuously sip on it at the table ... or ... on the beach ... or ... at the bar/grill ... or ... in the Uber. 😉

At times like this I wish I enjoyed beer. I do like margaritas but it has to be made with top shelf tequila ... so ... once again ... my finicky palate makes it just too expensive for me to have more than one. So ... thank you Starbucks!! It actually keeps my Chardonnay or Sauvignon Blanc quite cold!

Afterwards, we wandered down to The Cordoba to see about day rates for their beach chairs! We can get a chair and have food and beverage service there for $50 USD/person. We might do that instead of Breathless. We are collecting more options .... 👏👏👏

After that, we headed to " The Office" for lunch. The old boy had the tortilla soup and I ordered the beef burritos. The food was great but the portions were much larger than we could finish. I mean ... we had to save room for dessert! That said, the chocolate mousse along with an espresso was a perfect finish! The old boy summed it up nicely ... "It was a hard day at 'the office'." 😄

Sis had recommended the 'The Sand Bar' for inexpensive but great massages ... so we wandered a few hundred feet from the office and I received a fabulous open air massage. It was 90 minutes long for $50 USD. It wasn't until after my treatment that I realized I was at the wrong place! I ended up at Medano Massages by accident.

Leti was wonderful though ... she paid extra attention to my feet ... which is my favorite! I've never before had a massage where I could feel the breeze from the ocean skimming over my body while listening to the ocean waves lapping up onto the shore. I've also never had a massage where they massaged my entire head and face ... she even massaged my eyebrows off!

I also had to chuckle because I opted to leave my underpants on because there were 14 massage beds, in total, next to one another. I wasn't sure how private the shifting and rolling over would be. But Leti didn't let a little fabric come between her and the task at hand. At some points I think she was reaching her arm through my underpants all the way to her elbow! 😂 She did a very fine job indeed!

And while I was being so well pampered, the old boy was digging his way to China in the sand under his table as he waited. Have I mentioned just how exceptional the sand is here?? It is so clean and soft and deep!!! There aren't even shells in it! It's really tough to walk in too because you sink so deeply into it!

Another thing we have noticed is that there are no geckos or iguanas anywhere. Usually you will see them on the walls in Mexico... but we have yet to see any. I have no idea why?

We headed back to the room so I could wash my hair! After my massage, I realized I owed the old boy an apology for chastising him earlier in the day for getting a little sunscreen in the hair on the back of my neck because, by the time Leti was done with me, I was a complete mess of oil throughout my hair! 🥴

Once I was cleaned up and made up again ... we walked over to Baja Brewing for our 6:00pm reservation. I remain ever grateful that we arrived 30 minutes early ... because ... our table overlooked the ocean ... and ... the sunset over the water was SPECTACULAR!!! The color changes were breath-taking gorgeous. They went from cotton candy colors to a pinkish purple that blanketed the entire bay! Oh my gosh ... it was soooooo beautiful!

And, they had a live band which was also excellent! And, our pizza and ahi tuna quesadilla were very tasty as well! The old boy really enjoyed his amber ale ... and, as usual, my bottled Starbucks 'water' was equally delicious!

All in all ... it was an absolutely fabulous day! However, we are both ready to tuck into bed for the night and looking so very forward to the memories we will tuck into our hearts tomorrow!

With warmest hugs to you ... k&j 💖
