A Change in Plans!

There were fewer clouds this morning as the sun popped up over the condos! They cast some beautiful ribbons of color to start the day! One really has to be overlooking the ocean to get the full display of the sunrise ... but ... I am not complaining about my view one little bit! 😉
We thought we might spend the day by the ocean today at the beach club of Corazon. But then, we decided to visit the front desk of that particular hotel and see what they offered. They indicated that if we spent $50 minimum, we could go to the infinity pool on the rooftop and enjoy the day there. We took the elevator to the 9th floor, just to check it out, and were majorly impressed with the facility! We booked ourselves in for 9:00am tomorrow!
It was only then that I realized that THIS was the Rooftop 360° that Sis had already recommended. I know we would have scoped it out eventually ... but it was so fun to find it by accident.
The assistant manager (Alberto - which is his middle name) introduced himself as Mario. I was confused. He explained that he didn't like his middle name. If it wasn't such a high-end place I might have thought he was taking us for a ride ... but ... something in me believed him. Anyways .... I digress. Alberto/Mario suggested we come back today at 5:00pm. They will have appys and drinks and a violin player... and of course ... a beautiful sunset to enjoy. It sounded perfect!
On our way back to the room, we stopped in a jewellery store and the old boy was looking at rings. The vendor asked what size ... the old boy responded "16". The vendor responded with "no problem". He handed the old boy one to try ... it never even made it up to his knuckle. The vendor exclaimed "oy ... carumba". Then he assured us ... " no problem". He grabbed another ring. This one got only a wee bit further up his finger before the vendor blurted out "oh shit!". 😅🤣 I guess no new ring for the old boy this trip!
We opted to take lunch again at Gardenias! Our favorite server ... Fernando ... offered to make us a top-shelf margarita for $180 pesos. This was half the price we'd paid before. He has treated us so very well over the three times we have eaten there!
And elderly couple who have been coming to Cabo for 30 years were seated beside us and recommended "Roasted"! They indicated it was just down the street ... but ... you would need reservations. Apparently, they are only open for dinner.
They were closed at the time, but the old boy was lucky enough to flag down an employee as we walked by. We looked over the menu and decided to book ourselves in for Thursday evening at 6:00pm.
It was great to walk in that NE direction because we'd never been down any of those streets before! Fortunately, here in Cabo, all the streets lead to somewhere good!! We found ourselves at 'The Sand Bar' ... which was where we had actually been heading yesterday for my massage!
The old boy opted to have a passion fruit mescalita (aka margaritas made with mescal). I opted to stick with my "water bottle" ... but ... I had a sip of his drink and it was actually very good!
After a brief Siesta at our place ... thank goodness we are central enough to just drop back in at home ... we headed up to the Rooftop 360° for happy hour and sunset!
But then ... there was another change in plans. It was so darn windy that we did not want to stay up there. We opted to go to Edith's instead. We ordered 'Wally's Special" ... to share ... which included a lobster tail, a chunk of sea bass (the catch of the day) and 6 butterflied shrimp. This came with a baked potato and stir fried peppers. We also enjoyed the chips and salsa and warm buns. The old boy had a Mexican coffee (see video!) ... and .... we ordered the corn cake for dessert. But then ... I experienced an esophageal blockage that would not budge. Arghhhhh. I couldn't even enjoy the coffee nor the dessert. 😔
Worse yet ... when we got the bill ... it was $275 USD!! I knew it was going to be pricey ... but ... that was just for one meal! And we even shared the entree!! 😯
Maybe I'm too much like my father but that just seems ridiculous. The service was exceptional and the food was magnificent ... but seriously ... with the exchange on our Canadian money ... we were charged $348.17 for ONE dinner. And that was without the tip!! I can't even wrap my head around such ridiculousness. 🥺
The old boy reminded me that we only live once. He suggested we simply enjoy the experience. I'm trying but I'm really struggling to get to that point of appreciation. And, it boggles my mind that the restaurant had lots of people in it! Apparently other folks are not as uncomfortable with the prices as I am? I can think of millions of things I would rather spendcthat kind of money on. I just don't think I'm cut out to live like the rich and famous.
On more positive note, my blockage passed just after we got back to the condo. 👏👏👏👏👏👏And so ... all in all ... the night ended nicely.
And, I'm hoping there will be less wind on the rooftop so we can enjoy our reservation tomorrow morning! 🤞🤞🤞
Sleep well dear friends and family! We have two days left and we'll be back to the snow and cold with you all.
P.S. I'm not sure how the sunset looked tonight ....... I was tucked in out of the wind at Edith's.En savoir plus
Voyageur
Well look at all that food on the table!!! And the fancy coffee, just living the good life, you two kids. Missed you on the golf course today. Take care, Ray
Lansers on the Loose ...Ha ha ... hope you had a good round!! 💖
VoyageurMy jaw is still hanging open. $348.17?!? Whoa! You will definitely store that in the book of memories!
Lansers on the Loose ...Right!?! However ... I am learning it all averages out! Today, we had at least $300 worth of rich memory making experiences and it only cost $120 bucks. I'm recognizing that 'averaging' makes it much better! 😉
