    Kansas is windy!

    August 2, 2020 in the United States ⋅ ☀️ 77 °F

After lunch yesterday, I was driving through the Oklahoma town of Coalgate. I turned around to take a picture of the courthouse's veterans memorial. Well, that's what I thought it was. Believe it or not--and you have to believe it because I have a picture--it was the Ten Commandments from the Bible. Whoa.

Later, I hit two Harley dealerships in Tulsa and one in my overnight location of Bartlesville, Oklahoma.

I got to the hotel around 18:00 and had a very nice swim, shower, and meal before crashing around 21:00. That was far too early, as it turned out. I woke up at 01:00 wide awake. I dozed off around 04:30 until my alarm at 06:00. Bad start to today.

Before I left the hotel at just before 07:30, I took pictures of two of the art buffalo or whatever they're called. I have no idea how many are there, but I saw about five. They reminded me of the fancy goldfish that is used in Kaiserslautern, Germany, where I lived for a while.

Today was another gorgeous day with clear blue skies! It was only around 60°F/15°C when I started out, so it wasn't long before I had to stop and put on another shirt. Wow!

I skipped breakfast, so I stopped for food about 10:00. I found a great place called Little Firehouse Cafe in Derby, Kansas. A packed house it was and rightly so because the breakfast burrito I had was humongous and delicious.

After brunch, I made it to the Harley dealership in Park City, Kansas. I missed the border, but there aren't always goodbye/hello signs on smaller roads. I just happened to notice that the highway numbers changed and that I started leaning sideways against the wind. Kansas is windy!

Right now, I'm on the side of Interstate 195 because I can't get my GPS to reroute me off this 75 mile per hour nightmare. This part of the interstate is also a US highway (81?), so the TomTom thinks it's okay.

That's all for now. Don't forget to be awesome! ✌️

    Day 1 mileage: 378.5 (total 378.5)

P.S.: I didn't type all of this on the side of the highway.
