45,000 Miles!!

I left Memphis at 0530, and by 0630 I was riding in--yet again--torrential rain. That lasted all the way to Frankfort, where I stopped to wait the end of it out (check out the video).

My Aerostich suit kept me dry for the first hour, but then it got waterlogged and I found myself sitting in a puddle 😞. My rain over gloves worked for 2 hours, but then revolted, so I took them off 😞. My rain over oots worked for 3 hours, but then the road spray took over and I took them off, too. So by the time I made the attached video, every inch of me was soaking wet, including the inside of my helmet 😞. The only saving grace about being that wet it that it was a out 70°F, so I wasn't warm but I wasn't chilled to the bone either 👍.

After my photo at the capitol building, I headed south towards Alabama on my way to my next state, Louisiana. Unfortunately, the rain decided to come me, but in spurts. Just I'd begin to dry out, wham, I'd run into another storm cell 😞. That lasted for another 2-3 hours, then I just had to deal with the road spray.

After a pic for the Tour of Honor, I went to the next stop, a HD, and saw a hotel right next door. Hot shower, aircon drying out my boots and clothes that I'll be putting back on tomorrow, and a bed. Couldn't cut sleeping in the rain after being in it all day today 😞.

But I rolled 45,000 miles today, so I'm that much closer to completing my 100,000-mile ride!!! 💪
