Day 2 of Torrential Downpours

I got to leave this morning at 0430 on dry roads! It didn't last long unfortunately. At around 0800 I began hitting storm cells. Not much at first, but after I took my photo at the Louisiana State Capitol building at exactly 1000, I was in and out of torrential downpours the rest of the day 😞.

I wanted to get at least 900 miles rolled today, but with so much water coming down (pouring rain), blowing up (road spray), and standing still (flooded sections on the highway), I just couldn't get anywhere. Going 45 mph on the 70-mph limit interstate with semis blowing by you is not for the faint of heart. By 1700, my brain was fried, so I stopped at Whataburger for a meal.

While creating my personal puddle in their dining room, I decided enough is enough and got a hotel room just down the street. I feel terrible for stopping so soon because I won't get to my friends in Virginia until late tomorrow 😞. I hope I still get to see them 🤞.

The forecast says it's clear tomorrow, but I don't believe it. I'm not looking forward to putting my wet clothes back on in the morning 🥶. I can't do anything about that, but I'm trying to dry my helmet liner with the hairdryer. The last time I tried this, I melted my sun visor 🤣. This time I have it set to low, so 🤞. Wish me luck!!

Oh yeah. Also wish me luck that I don't have a rear flat tire in the morning. When I stopped for gas around lunch, my pressure was 41 psi (normal at 45). I ran over some crap on the highway earlier, probably semi debris as usual. Since I was only 7 miles from the Baton Rouge HD, I beelined there just in case. By the time I got there, the psi had risen to 43. The service guy couldn't see anything in the tire when I rolled the bike, so I added some air and continued on my way. When I got to the hotel, I was at 38 psi 😳. I'm hoping it's just the wet that chilled off the tire since I was going so slow 🤞.
