Under Shelter

Despite breaking my rule of not riding between the hours of 0200 to 0400, I survived this morning. I even managed to dodge an entire family of live raccoons, a massive dead skunk, and I don't know how many deer.

One of my early photo stops was an American Legion or VFW Post, and they had a park bench by the side of their parking lot, so I laid down with my helmet on and slept for about 30 minutes until the sun woke me up, which I knew it would do. That helped a lot.

I was pretty much dry by lunch. With only 2 hours of sleep last night and a 30 minute nap this morning, it was a real struggle to stay awake this afternoon. At 1430 I stopped at Wendy's to eat and cool off. I stayed there for 2 hours, which also really helped.

I've made it down into Ohio and am camped underneath the pavilion at Napoleon HD. I called it quits at about 1800 while the sun was still up and unpacked all my wet things to let them dry and air out. Everything seems to be good now. I'm not in the tent tonight, and it's not supposed to rain, but we know how that goes 🤣.
