Hoka Hey End of the Road Party

Despite not setting my alarm clock, I was still wide awake at 0345 this morning. I was able to doze off a little bit, but finally just got up to get some breakfast at the hotel. Look at my phone I saw there were a couple of riders that would be in around 0930, so I threw some clothes on and walked down to the dealership about a mile away.

It was really special to be able to greet people as they came across the line. By the time the party kicked off officially at 1500, only 11 riders had crossed the finish line. Only 11. And with the change in the rules this year, no one achieved Elite Finisher status. No one. Which pretty much sucks.

I spoke to so many people, riders and non-riders alike, who had been so happy to follow me. They told me how they were up even before I was and screaming at their phones to try to wake me up so that I would continue on before dirty Dan passed me. He did pass me, I didn't know that he had, and I just kept riding my ride.
