Over 100°F...Day 3

Despite the heat, I got some rest last night and was up and rolling by 0415.

It was a pretty good day; high speed limits made the miles slip past. Other than the normal problems I have with semis cutting me off and the oblivious drivers on their phones, there were only two things that happened.

First, I have terrific Denali auxiliary and fog lights that turn night into day, especially when I have them at 100% with my high beams. But when traffic is coming I usually flip the highs off and they drop to 15%. Like I did this morning. Then a family of 5-8 raccoons decided to cross the road in front of me. They were nose to tail and spanned the entire lane. No shoulder, oncoming traffic, time to slow but not stop 😳. I had no choice. I nailed one of them ☠️. Poor dude. I hope the rest of them made it over the other lane🤞. No damage to the bike 👍.

Second, and still in the dark of this morning, I visited the Yorktown Memorial Hospital for the Motorcycle Grand Tour of Texas. It's said to be haunted, so I guess a guy living in his car in the parking lot has decided to give tours...or just try to get money out of you. Shirtless and made up like a really bad zombie in the Walking Dead, he kept coming right up to me. I thought it was going to get serious, but he finally backed off. I got my pic and scrammed.

Well, that's pretty much it. A nice fried oyster sandwich lunch at one of the Ride to Eat stops in Corpus Christi to cool off (did I mention it was hot again today?), a tenuous floor it and stop around Houston, and an almost fight in a gas station bathroom with a Lot Lizard somewhere near Victoria. Normal day, really 🤪.
