• Big Service Day

    August 26 in the United States ⋅ 🌙 84 °F

Note to self: Never free camp at Woodlands HD 🤦.

Although well lit, I thought it would be fine to stay there. Some of the employees shutting down shop saw me on my chaise lounge; no one cared that I was there. Cool. As soon as it got dark though. Uh oh. Grown man on a bicycle tried to sell me "red or blue," which I'm assuming was drugs 🤦. No, thanks.

So, despite the heat, but with concern over what I can sleep through--as in someone taking my stuff--I set up my tent to put everything inside, including me. I tried to fall asleep just after 2100, but even after three sessions of my sleep meditation...not happening. It was still over 90°F and inside the tent? Well, it was hot. I would start to doze off just out of pure exhaustion, but sweat rolling down somewhere would wake me 🤦.

By midnight I couldn't take it any longer, so I drug my cot outside the tent. A little breeze did the trick, and I fell asleep around 0200. At 0400 the cars began to roll through the parking lot. Turns out, it's a shortcut to the highway 🤦.

Suffice it to say, I didn't get much sleep. I think that's the worst place I ever chose to camp. Ugh.

I was packed by 0500, and went to Anytime Fitness for a shower and clothes change. Aaaahhhhh. Yay! Cold shower and air conditioning!! 🎉🎉🎉 I hung out there until the lavandería opened so I could do laundry. Yay! Clean clothes!! 🎉🎉🎉 By then it was 0900, so I went down the street for a haircut. Yay! Short hair!! 🎉🎉🎉

Then it was back to Woodlands for my 150,000-mile service, even though the bike is only at 145k. They're one of the dealers in my VIP Maintenance Plan. Man, was this plan so worth it! I would've already spent at least three times the money that I paid for the plan and I still have a couple of services left.

I had a huge lunch at Carrabba's next door, then fell asleep on the HD's couch for a couple of hours. I was probably farting my ass off 🤣🤣🤣. Oh well.

Even though they finished up the bike around 1700, I hung out on the couch until 1900 when they kicked me out. My next stop was South Houston and I was in North Houston. Every road on Google Maps was red. Nope. Not riding in over 100° and stop and go traffic. I finally rolled out at 2030. Streets still congested, but flowing around the speed limit. 👍

Now, I'm in Galveston at the VFW, which I hope will work out. Again, probably not the best choice of sites, but I'm tired and the breeze is really nice. I'm going to try to enjoy sunrise near the beach if I can. I'm in no hurry now.

P.S.: I just discovered that my pillow is wet from my face sweating on it last night 🤦🥵.

Hope to see you on the road! Remember, NO WHINING! ✌️
