  • Bienvenidos Cakes!

    14 Ogos 2022, Sepanyol ⋅ ⛅ 43 °C

We took our friends to Xativa! As our little town is one of the hottest places in Spain, we camped in the living room to be close to the (lifesaving) air conditioning. Apart from sweating, we swam in all the nearby rivers, explored Xativa's thrilling night scene, discovered the caves near Bocairent & experienced the Feria of Xativa, a five-day long traditional fiesta.Baca lagi

  • Zaragoza

    19 Ogos 2022, Sepanyol ⋅ ☀️ 30 °C

We're travelling in Aragon for one week before heading to Norway! First stop: Spain's fifth-largest city, Zaragoza. This city is filled with remains from Roman times, when the city was named Caesaraugusta. Unfortunately, a lot of the museums were closed (everyone is on holiday in Spain!).

Instead, we visited the impressive Basílica de Nuestra Señora del Pilar (one of the towers offers a great view on the city!) & La Seo Cathedral, walked around the Aljafería Palace (known as the best piece of Moorish architecture outside of Andalusia) and ate some delicious empanadas :).

  • Bardenas Reales

    19 Ogos 2022, Sepanyol ⋅ ☀️ 29 °C

The Bardenas Reales Natural Park in Navarre is characterized by its semi-desert landscapes, the result of hot summers, cold winters, long dry periods interrupted by heavy rain and a particular wind current that runs through the area (called “cierzo"). It was fun & quite impressive to drive around this unique landscape!Baca lagi

  • Búbal

    20 Ogos 2022, Sepanyol ⋅ ☀️ 22 °C

We decided to do a warm-up hike in the Pyrenees before we take on the high mountains and were pleasantly surprised with the views along the way!

  • Torla - Monte Perdido

    22 Ogos 2022, Sepanyol ⋅ ☀️ 19 °C

From the semi-desert of Navarre to the green Pirineos of Aragon! We parked Otto in the charming mountain village Torla to conquer Monte Perdido, the third highest mountain in the Pyrenees (3355m). On the first day we crossed the extremely beautiful Ordessa valley and pitched our tent at the (busy!) Refugio de Goriz. The next day we got up early, climbed to the summit and descended all the way down again. After 3000 meters ascending and descending we had earned our pizza!Baca lagi

  • Home (bitter)sweet home

    3 Oktober 2022, Sepanyol ⋅ ⛅ 26 °C

After two months of travelling in Spain, Norway and Belgium, we are back home in Xativa! The first weeks were a bit stressful. We took in another foster dog, Stella, who was really afraid of humans. After one day, she decided to leave us and jumped through our fenced window. We put up posters and searched for her every free minute we had but unfortunately... no luck (we continue the search). Luckily, the little kitten Vita we're fostering comforted us when we arrived home exhausted from the search.

Apart from all the drama, September seemed to be a month full of festivities here in the old town. Not a day went by without fireworks (even at 8 AM) or processions. We even had a DJ right in front of our door. Good fun, but glad it's over :).

  • Madrid

    30 Oktober 2022, Sepanyol ⋅ ⛅ 19 °C

It was about time to visit the capital of Spain, so we prepared Otto for another roadtrip with foster doggie Boomie and took off for a mini-holiday!

Unfortunately, we weren't the only ones with this fabulous plan. Walking along the Gran Via felt more like cattle being herded. We loved exploring the neighbourhoods of Malasaña, Chueca and Lavapiés, with their cosy streets full of restaurants, bars and cool shops. The city is quite green and we really liked 'El Retiro' park with it's beautiful Crystal Palace.

Traveling with a dog means it is difficult to visit any indoor attractions, so unfortunately we couldn't visit the Prado or Reina Sofia. Next time :)! On the plus side, we had to do everything on foot and saw our average step count tripled!

  • Segovia

    31 Oktober 2022, Sepanyol ⋅ 🌧 13 °C

Segovia is known for its collosal aqueduct, the largest and best preserved of the Roman Empire. The city is surrounded by hills and a green belt, where we did a really nice hike while enjoying the best views of the Alcazar and the Cathedral!

On our way to Toledo, we tried to visit Valle de los Caidos and El Escorial, but forgot that Monday is often closing day, rookie mistake! We hiked to 'Silla de Felipe II' to catch a glimpse of the enormous monastery-palace. According to tradition, King Filips II supervised construction of the seat of his empire from this seat carved into rock. Boomie became friends with the prettiest cows along the hike!

  • Toledo

    1 November 2022, Sepanyol ⋅ ⛅ 21 °C

Toledo was Spain's capital until 1560 and
one of the most important centers of medieval history. It is very popular amongst day trippers from Madrid! That's why we especially liked exploring the narrow streets and the beautifully lit medieval architecture at night while trying some local mazipan. The gothic cathedral was particularly impressive!Baca lagi

  • Bienvenido Oliver

    11 Disember 2022, Sepanyol ⋅ 🌧 10 °C

Yey, another visitor! We spent a fun weekend with Oliver exploring Valencia on a cloudy Friday, climbing Xativa's highest peak on a sunny Saturday and nostalgic gaming with pancakes on a rainy Sunday.

  • Sierra de Benicadell

    5 Februari 2023, Sepanyol ⋅ ☀️ 14 °C

We finally had some time to venture into the mountains again ⛰️! We climbed the highest peak in this little but picturesque mountain range that offers views over the Valle de Albaida. That same weekend we also spend some time with Miel's brother and his friend, who treated us to a delicious Indian dinner in Valencia and were able to experience one of Xativa's many parades. And oh yeah, Boomie also has a new companion! Meet Bailey 🐶, a mistreated puppy that we'll hopefully be able to socialize so she can find a loving home!Baca lagi

  • Bienvenidos Tine & Remco

    16 Mac 2023, Sepanyol

Tine convinced Remco to make a trip to Xativa. He convinced his sister Babette to join them. Babette, who happens to be a friend of Laura convinced her family to take part as well. And so, Xativa's amount of tourists suddenly doubled. We went climbing, dining, hiking and bathing under the sun and last but not least, we did lots of crosswords together. Thanks for opening a new world for us 🤓Baca lagi

  • Las Hoces del Cabriel NP

    2 April 2023, Sepanyol ⋅ ☀️ 20 °C

Time for another trip, the first one with Bailey. We ventured out of Valencia into Castilla la Mancha, where we visited pictoresque Alcala del Jucar - with its narrow streets winding up a steep hill with a cute castle perched on top of it - and explored the nearby 'hoces' (gorges) that the Cabriel river carved out throughout the centuries.Baca lagi

  • Climbing trip with Jenka & Lauti

    16 April 2023, Sepanyol ⋅ ☀️ 23 °C

We met Lauti and Jenka in beautiful Chulilla and spent our time together having long breakfasts on our Airbnb's rooftop, climbing (including Miel's first multipitch!) and cooling down at an idyllic water spot. What a great way to end Easter holidays!Baca lagi

  • Bienvenidos Chic@s de LO

    24 April 2023, Sepanyol ⋅ ☀️ 28 °C

Jenka, Lauti, Lisa and Yannick came to visit us in Xativa! We threw Lisa a late birthday party, enjoyed the Spanish sun by chilling at two (ice cold) rivers and made some delicious paella and sangria!

  • Bienvenida Jol!

    3 Mei 2023, Sepanyol ⋅ ☁️ 21 °C

Another visit from Belgium :)! As we both had a day off from work, we could go on a weekend trip! We finally managed to climb Monduber, a really nice hike with amazing views on the mountains & seaside. After wild camping in a swamp (we arrived when it was dark), we went snorkeling at beautiful Las Rotes beach in Dénia and saw lots of cute 🐠🐟! We found an epic camp spot in the Vall de Laguar, where we hiked the Barranco del Infierno the next day. Climbing 6800 steps under the burning sun, we realized 'Hell' s Ravine' lived up to its name, although the views were definitely worth it!Baca lagi

  • Guadalest & Bernia

    21 Mei 2023, Sepanyol ⋅ ☁️ 20 °C

To try and forget the fact that we work on Saturdays, we often leave on a trip right after. This time, we visited El Castell de Guadalest, a beautiful medieval village located at the top of a steep rocky crag, surrounded by impressive mountains. We found the perfect camp spot 🚐 right next to its bright blue reservoir.

On Sunday, it was time for some action! We climbed on a cool limestone formation in Guadalest, drove to the Sierra de Bernia and hiked for more than 5 hours. It was quite a challenging hike, involving some rock scrambles, cable traverses & steep climbs (Miel had to carry the dogs more than once). The magnificent views from the top, the cool ruins of the fort and the tunnel cave made it absolutely worth it! We rewarded ourselves with an Indian rooftop dinner in Altea's old town to end our perfect weekend :).

Surprise visit & surprise message! We ignored the weather forecast and set out into nature as much as we could, although we couldn't resist the opportunity to watch a second-rate but entertaining blockbuster in the cinema as well. Mission accomplished Oliver!Baca lagi
