    Originally built as a mausoleum for Diocletian in 305 AD, the church was first consecrated in the 7th century and is considered the oldest Catholic Church building in continuous use in the world. The cathedral gets its name from the patron saint of Split, a third century bishop of Salona who was beheaded by Emperor Diocletian just a year before the mausoleum was built.Lue lisää
