City of Split

These are miscellaneous photos of Split. First are images of the market located near the dock outside the palace. There were flowers everywhere in anticipation of the Catholic All Souls Day (Croatia is a largely Catholic country). The statue is of Grgur Ninski who was bishop of Nin during the 10th century; he is honored by Croatians for fighting to allow them to worship in their native tongue as opposed to the previously required Latin. The other photos are from the harbor and the Stars Ura (old town Clock Square). The clock was built between the 13th and 15th centuries.Meer informatie
