Gunung Bromo

3 am in the morning, everyone is getting up for the sunrise. This is when I decided to stay in the warm bed and have a sleep in!
After a relaxed breakfast I looked around for another homestay. Not hard to find something reasonable with a hot shower!
And by 9 o'clock (when all the tours already leave town) I started walking up to the "Mt Pananjakan" or the sunrise lookout point. Unfortunately half way up the weather closed in.
But I cleared up in the late afternoon and I started walking through the "Sea of Sand" to "Mt Bromo". It is pretty impressive to walk to an active volcano which smokes like hell!
A few steps lead up the way to the rim where you can look deep into the crater! Already when you get close you can smell the sulphur and if the wind turns towards you will get burning eyes.
The next morning it was time to get up early to catch the sunrise. Up and going by 3am, I arrived just below the second view point from the tours right in time for the drawn. The perfect place (which I could spot the day before). Unfortunately there were that many people on the actually view point that they started walking down further and further till the reached me! Nevertheless it was a nice sunrise.
Afterwards when everyone was going to "Bromo" I were heading to "Mt Batok" right next to "Bromo". Well I was the only one there! And soon I found out the reason why, a steep dirt leads up (at least the beginning). But soon it turned into anything between dust and sand but not a path!
"Mt Rinjani" was already pretty heavy in the end but this thing was insane. Actually kind of half way I doubt if it is a good idea, not that is hard to get up (well it is), going down will be interesting! Anyhow I got to the top and the views were amazing. Especially on or in "Mt. Bromo".
The way down turned out to be fairly easy, once you see something in the cloud of dust and find the right way to side down the thing. In the end it just took 10-15min all the way down.
Afterwards I went to Bromo again and walked half way around the rim. Today, he was less smoky and I could have a glimpse deep down.
One more sunrise the next morning but this time I went to a remote spot off any way in the cliff, just below the first viewpoint. And I was by my own there. Totally amazing to see assemble of volcanos and in the back thrones "Mt Semaru" which blew out this clouds every 15 min or so.

Als nach einer kurzen, kalten Nacht um 3 Uhr sich alle auf den weg gemacht haben, um den den Sonnenaufgang zu erwischen, habe ich entschieden in warmen Bett zu bleiben und erstmal auszuschlafen!
Nachdem Frühstück habe ich noch kurz die Unterkunft gewechselt und pünktlich (9Uhr) wenn die Touristenströme schon wieder zurück kommen, habe ich mich auf den Weg zum Gipfel vom “Mt. Pananjakan“ gemacht.
Leider wurde es auf halben Weg nach Oben sehr neblig, sodass ich gar nicht viel sehen konnte. Jedoch war es genug sich einen guten Platz gut den morgigen Sonnenaufgang zu finden.
Am späten Nachmittag klarte es dann doch noch auf und ich machte mich auf den weg, durch das “Meer aus Sand“, zum “Mt Bromo“.
Es war schon sehr beeindruckend auf einen rauchenden Vulkan zu steigen! Schon am Fuß Des Vulkans konnte man den beißenden Schwefel richen.
Am Morgen, oder eher in der Nacht um 3 Uhr war es diesmal sich Zeit gut mich, mich auf den weg zum Lookout zu machen. Der am Vortag erspäte Platz war gut, bis all die Touristen vom den Touren angefangen haben den Berg herunterzulaufen, da oben kein Platz mehr war und sie mich erreichten!
Trotzdem ein wunderbarer Sonnenaufgang. Danach ging es zügig runter und durch das “Meer aus Sand“ -Nein, nicht zum Bromo, wo alle Touristen hinlaufen - direkt zum “Mt. Batok“ ein inaktiver Vulkan gleich neben an!
Da war ich ganz alleine, schnell habe ich dann auch herausgefunden wieso! Zwar geht dort ein offizieller Weg hoch. Jedoch wird der nach ein paar Metern bergauf mehr zum Sand und Staub als ein weg. Irgendwie schaffte ich zwar den weg nach oben! Am halben weg rauf hatte ich die Vernünftigkeit des Berges doch stark bezweifelt, da ich ja auch wieder runter musste...
Auf jeden Fall war die Aussicht sehr gut von da oben. Vor allen auf den angrenzenden “Bromo“ und in den Vulkankrater!
Er weg nach unten hat zwar senkrecht ausgesehen war aber dann gar nicht so schwierig, wenn man etwas durch die große Staubwolke gesehen hat.
Danach nochmal kurz einen Abstecher auf dem “Mt Bromo“ selber, wo ich noch halb um den Kraterrand gelaufen bin. Nach den Touristenstrom am Morgen, jetzt hatte ich den ganzen Vulkan für mich alleine.
Am Morgen ging es nochmal zum Sonnenaufgang. Diesmal aber zu einem versteckten Platz in einer Klippe, wo ich dann doch ganz alleine den Sonnenaufgang genießen konnte! Ziemlich atemberaubend die Ansammlung an Vulkanen zu sehen. Über allem thront “Mt. Semeru“ im Hintergrund und spuckt alle 15min seine Wolken in den Himmel.Read more
